Come Work with Compass ELC: the role:
As a Compass ELC Site Lead you will work as a Registered Early Childhood Educator alongside some of the industrys most passionate caring and dedicated educators. You will spend your time engaging connecting and learning alongside children families and co-educators as well as ensuring licensing standards are met and Compass ELC values are evident in all aspects of the program. You will model and grow an equity perspective and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness.
You will work 35 hours per week. 25 of these hours will be in the program from 7 am to 9 am and 3 pm to 6 pm Monday to Friday. The additional 10 hours per week you will be expected to work in our administration office for administrative tasks documentation and pedagogy.
This role will have full-time hours during PA days March break Summer camp and Winter break.
Some accountabilities associated with the role include:
- Working as part of a team with fellow Early Childhood Educators Families School Communities and Children.
- Ensuring the safety of staff and children.
- Being willing and confident to engage in difficult conversations with educators families children and community partners.
- Having daily administrative and pedagogical time.
- Acting as a link for other program staff connecting them to our HR Finance Pedagogy and Operations teams.
- Provide nutritious snacks based on a menu created in line with the latest nutritional guidelines.
- Responsible for billing accounts receivable enrollments and managing the child care waitlist.
- Ensuring that the program is meeting the requirements set out by licensing as per the Child Care Early Years Act and in line with How Does Learning Happen Ontarios Pedagogy for the Early Years.
- Welcoming and training new staff into your program including supply staff
- Planning and implementing play-based experiences following observations of childrens interests.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Is familiar with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards in a childcare program.
- A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience working as an Early Childhood Educator or Equivalent
- Possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education Compass Early Learning and Care and the Child Care Early Years Act to work in a childcare setting:
- Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- Updated immunization records (Or a signed and notarized refusal of affidavit or medical exemption).
- Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators or has a post-secondary degree in a recognized field (i.e. Child and Youth Care Recreation and Leisure Bachelor of Education Social Service Work).
