Job Summary

Now hiring: After School Program Staff Prep School

Employment Terms: Part-Time 5-Month Contract (15 hours per week)

Start date: February 2026

End date: June 19th 2026

We are looking for an enthusiastic curious and adaptable After School Program staff member. This role will provide after-school care for Preparatory School students outside of regular school hours.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

Student Supervision

  • Ensure that students are under staff supervision at all times;

  • Supervise and monitor attendance; sign students in and out of the program;

  • Supervise and assist with homework completion;

  • Supervise students using various resources at different locations (Prep Fields Arena Sport Court Tennis Bubble etc);

  • Supervise after-school snack;

  • Engage with students and facilitate peer-to-peer interaction;

  • Oversee the sign-out process.

Program Supervision

  • Facilitate organize and supervise after school clubs for small groups;

  • Supervise recreational club activities;

  • Supervise club programs;

  • Supervise and facilitate contractor responsibilities.

Parent Communication:

  • Ensure parent communication; incident reports student challenges;

  • Liaise with the ASP On-site Supervisor and ASP Coordinator about student and parental issues.

Student Wellbeing:

  • Encourage and model positive student interaction;

  • Promote a positive engaging happy environment for students;

  • Encourage students in their pursuit of learning;

  • Care for young student needs and provide guidance;

Reception:

  • Grant access welcome and offer assistance to all visitors who enter the reception area;

  • Direct telephone calls to the appropriate recipient.


Job Requirements

Experience Knowledge and Competencies:

  • Currently enrolled in or have completed a diploma or degree program such as Teaching or ECE an asset;

  • Work experience from other after school programs camps or daycares;

  • Work experience in camp like setting providing supervision and instruction for boys clubs and/or activities;

  • Interested in working with children in a fast-paced energized environment;

  • Lifeguarding or coaching qualifications/experience would be an asset;

  • Knowledge of UCC ASP work procedures including sign in/out responsibilities and daily UCC routines (facility use faculty schedules dismissal procedures etc);

  • Knowledge of CFL trained guidelines and methods;

  • School/college policies and standards for students;

  • Knowledge of recreational sports varying club activities;

  • Knowledge of the objectives of the programs at the ASP;

  • Ability to anticipate and resolve conflicts scheduling issues facility challenges etc;

  • Ability to work with students and keep them organized and reflecting behaviour of a respectful UCC student;

  • Ability to organize and operate a club or activity for 8 weeks of programming;

  • Ability to identify potential areas of risk and develop programs to mitigate the risk and redirect activity in more healthy directions;

  • Ability to identify and assess grounds related problems caused by weather pests or other factors and communicate them to the supervisor;

  • Responsible for student supervision program supervision parent communication student wellbeing and reception tasks;

  • Provide supervision and guidance to students;

  • Standing walking and moving around the program area to supervise students facilitate activities and ensure a safe and well-organized environment;

  • Working in a supervised indoor and outdoor environment interacting with students and parents following a structured schedule and accommodating varying noise levels and activity levels within the program setting;

  • Ensure smooth operations and effective after school program delivery taking care of equipment supplies and resources utilized by the after-school program.
