Role: Bookkeeper

Area: Brackenfell Cape Town

Work setup : Full time in office

Our client is looking for a Bookkeeper to be based at their head office in Brackenfell.

Requirements:

  1. The successful candidate will report to managing director/owner
  2. Bookkeeping qualification essential
  3. Financial Diploma or Degree an advantage
  4. 3 5 years experience as a senior bookkeeper using Pastel doing the full accounting cycle to balance sheet preparation
  5. Overseeing the financial and admin department
  6. Bookkeeping experience from a manufacturing sales and service background
  7. Full payroll experience on Pastel Payroll
  8. Experienced in E-filing and easy file
  9. Vat control and submissions
  10. Debtors and creditors experience
  11. Cashflow planning
  12. Stock and asset management
  13. Assist with audits

Head office duties:

  • Checking deposits on a daily basis and capturing thereof
  • Capture all payments from bank account on a daily basis
  • Dealing with all aspects of the debtors (contacting debtors to confirm month end payments following up on overdue /outstanding payments capturing payments provide documentation if required by debtor)
  • Capture various month end journals for both companies.
  • Load creditor payments on banking on a monthly basis
  • Assist in creditor recons and approval of creditor recons for payment
  • Capture and authorise payments on FNB Online
  • EMP201 Reconciliations and submission via SARS e-filing on a monthly basis
  • Vat reconciliations and submission via SARS e-filing on a monthly basis
  • Processing monthly payroll (all branches) on Pastel Payroll for salaries and payment thereof
  • Submission of monthly returns for pension and adjusting the salary & wage payrolls accordingly
  • Capturing of all cash receipts/payments on Pastel
  • Adjusting of monthly job cards (job costing)
  • Prepare quarterly management accounts for bank if required
  • Emailing customer statements
  • Adhoc functions: 16.1 Provisional Tax bi-annual calculations and confirmation by auditors
  • EMP501 reconciliations and submission via easyfile bi-annual
  • Dividend tax submission annually if dividend declared
  • Tax clearance
  • Capturing of year end journals. Preparing audit pack for financial statement drafting
  • Ensuring all Directors and company tax documents are submitted to external accountants for submission of ITR12 form. Provisional Tax IRP6(calculation & submission)
  • Calculating landed cost of imported products and capture on Pastel stock module.
  • Dealing with SARS re: queries or audits.
  • Administer medical aid
  • Administer Workmans compensation insurance fund requirements
  • Administer company insurance

KZN Branches duties:

  • Vat reconciliations and submission via SARS e-filing on a bi-monthly basis
  • Random checks on Durban and Richards Bay accounts sent on a monthly basis
  • Monthly consolidation of Richards Bay and Durban branch accounts when received from the respective bookkeepers at those branches
  • Follow up with respective branches on outstanding debtors
  • EMP201 Reconciliations and submission via SARS e-filing on a monthly basis
  • Follow up monthly on relevant documents pertaining to payroll ie. leave forms overtime etc. Monthly payroll (Pastel Payroll) & payment thereof.
  • Submission of monthly returns for pension and adjusting the payroll accordingly
  • Ad-hoc functions: 8.1 Provisional Tax bi-annual calculations and confirmation by auditors
  • Bi-Annual EMP501 reconciliations and submission via Easyfile
  • Dividends tax submission annually if dividend declared
  • Tax Clearance Certificates
  • Assisting and capturing of year end journals (up to balance sheet)

General Investment and Property Companies

  • Provisional tax bi annual
  • Overseeing vat calculations.
  • Preparing audit packs.
