HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Craft and plan course content aligned with the provided descriptions and directions. Create a detailed course plan including lessons learning objectives and themed activities.
  • Design lessons and activities that embrace 21st-century learning strategies and global competencies ensuring they are forward-thinking and relevant.
  • Develop and deliver lessons that are engaging inclusive and centred around Diversity Equity Accessibility and Inclusion (DEAI).
  • Recognize and accommodate various learning styles and accessibility needs of campers ensuring that everyone is fully engaged and supported.
  • Prepare detailed day-by-day descriptions of the camps activities and learnings for caregivers.
  • Follow established procedures and protocols for daily schedules routines and camper care.
  • Manage the behaviour of children in the group ensuring a safe enjoyable and educational experience for each camper.
  • Incorporate inquiry-based (Socratic) and experiential learning methods into your lessons using museum specimens artifacts and objects to enhance the learning experience.
  • Ensure the safety and appropriate use of museum materials and specimens.
  • Supervise and guide assigned assistants providing direction and support.
  • Offer constructive feedback to volunteers and assistants aiding in their professional development.
  • Serve as an additional point of contact for caregiver relations and address any significant concerns that may arise.


WHAT YOU BRING

  • You should have a post-secondary degree (or its equivalent) in a museum-related field like art culture history or nature. Degrees in education-related fields such as Early Childhood Education or Bachelor of Education are also highly relevant.
  • At least three years of experience working with children in an educational or camp setting is essential. This experience is crucial in understanding how to engage effectively with young learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must. You should be able to connect and communicate effectively with children and adults alike.
  • Strong skills in resolving conflicts are necessary. Youll need to handle any challenges smoothly and maintain a positive environment.
  • A firm understanding of effective behaviour and classroom management techniques is important. This skill ensures a structured and productive learning environment.
  • If you have formal teaching qualifications and First Aid/CPR certification thats a huge plus. These qualifications add to your capability to provide a safe and educational experience.
  • Experience or education in any of the following areas will be considered an added advantage: film/video production photography ceramics leadership training storytelling environmental education illustration or tabletop gaming. These skills can enrich the camp experience and bring unique perspectives to our educational offerings.
