Job Title: Lower School Lead Teacher (Grades K-4)
Reports to: Lower School Division Director
Role Duration: Faculty 10 months full time beginning August 2026
Job Description
Ashley Hall School seeks applicants for Lead Teacher positions in the Lower School. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

Major Responsibilities:
Plan and implement curriculum and instruction in language arts mathematics science and social studies.
Collaborate with colleagues within the Lower School division and throughout the school as a whole sharing responsibilities for curriculum development and divisional priorities.
Design and implement inquiry-based project learning experiences guided by student interests.
Implement classroom instruction that includes whole group small group and individualized instruction.
Prepare assignments for students review and provide feedback and/or grades.
Provide timely and targeted conversations with parents as needed to support the academic social and emotional needs of students and to foster strong parent/school partnerships.
Communicate clearly and work well with parents and colleagues.
As a lead teacher other duties include:
Assisting at car-pool (drop off and pick up of students) lunch and recess duty.
Professional development as it relates to curriculum development health and safety of students.
All other duties as assigned by the division director.
Education and Experience
Required:
Bachelors degree in an applicable field.
Teaching experience using a student-centered approach to include blended learning strategies and individualized instruction.
Preferred:
Masters Degree.
Experience in independent schools.
Experience teaching in an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme or have training in IB methodology.
Experience with Units of Study in Reading and Writing (Teachers College Reading and Writing Project) EveryDay Math Responsive Classroom.
Have experience in and a commitment to differentiated learning and a strong pedagogical approach to supporting diverse learners.
A commitment to a culturally responsive curriculum and pedagogy to engage and honor all learners and embrace diverse perspectives.
Since its founding in 1909 Ashley Hall has empowered young women to think critically act ethically and embrace their world with confidence. The School serves girls kindergarten through grade 12 (and is co-ed in its Early School ages 2 to 5 years). Ashley Hall provides a dynamic education grounded in a Reggio approach in its early School and an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme in its Lower School. It is currently in the strategic phase of a Middle Years Programme candidacy with the intention of pursuing Diploma Programme candidacy thereafter.
