The Office of Student Experience at Mount Saint Vincent University invites applications for the position of Transition and Retention Program Manager.
What youll do
Responsibilities
The Transition and Retention Program Manager (TRPM) is responsible for the development implementation and strategic oversight of transition programming and retention initiatives at MSVU. They will coordinate and develop transition and retention programming including Orientations Mount 101 the Mount Mentors summer melt programming and program-specific retention projects. They will collaborate in the development and implementation of new pathway and transition programming for African Nova Scotian high school students and first-generation students. With a focus on EDIA the TRPM will oversee fall and winter orientations ensuring that students are provided with a comprehensive and welcoming orientation to MSVU. They will work with departments across the university to integrate all orientation programming into cohesive Welcome Weeks for the fall and winter intakes. The TRPM will manage related outreach and communication efforts including social media accounts (Instagram Facebook TikTok) monthly parent/supporter newsletter relevant websites Captains Calendar student email campaigns and other communication efforts as required.
Collaborating with key constituency groups across the university the TRPM will develop and implement comprehensive retention strategies and programs that contribute to the Universitys Strategic Plan and Strategic Enrolment Management plan. Paying particular attention to the retention and success of students from equity-denied groups the TRPM will review retention data and liaise with university groups to identify areas of concern and improvement and contribute to data-informed evaluation of transition and retention initiatives. The TRPM will work with colleagues and committees to develop strategies and programs that address gaps and to design implement and evaluate transition and retention programming that supports student success.
What youll need
Qualifications
You possess a relevant Masters degree (e.g. Education Psychology or Social Sciences) with two years of related experience and experience working in an educational setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. You are passionate about student success and enjoy working with a diverse student body. Experience using learning management systems such as Moodle is required. Experience with online course development and training in inclusive curriculum is an asset. You are able to provide clear and concisely written briefings and maintain an organized method for documenting meeting notes program support documents and student notes. You possess strong skills in written and oral communication interpersonal/teamwork organization time management marketing/public relations social media savvy and website editing. You are able to work well independently with creativity and initiative. Candidates should be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word PowerPoint) and have an aptitude for or previous experience using business enterprise systems such as Colleague Banner PeopleSoft etc.
Classification: Permanent Full-Time MPA Level 5 Position
Salary: $69647 per annum Step Progression: $69647 to $84736
