POSITION DUTIES
The Compliance Division is hiring a Manager to lead the Individual Tax Audit Section. This position oversees the planning and execution of audit programs within the Individual Tax Audit Section including the Individual Nexus Unit and the Tax Investigation Unit.
The Manager provides leadership to Revenue Administrators Revenue Specialists Revenue Examiners and clerical staff ensuring efficient operations adherence to procedures and consistent performance. Responsibilities include monitoring daily workload and productivity allocating resources effectively and meeting operational goals.
This role reviews and updates compliance program business rules each tax year develops new rules for emerging programs and prepares monthly production reports for the Directors Office. The Manager also handles disciplinary actions and responds to complex inquiries from taxpayers tax professionals and elected officials that require management-level involvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six (6) years of professional work experience in auditing accounting tax law general management or customer service. Two (2) years of this professional work experience must have involved supervising professional revenue administrators accountants or auditors or providing legal advice requiring the interpretation of tax laws in the capacity of a tax attorney or having been in a responsible administrative or management capacity.
DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four (4) years management level experience with at least two (2) years experience supervising tax auditors or income tax

- Limited to current Comptroller of Maryland employees.
