Job Summary

Project Development Worker Merkinch South Kessock and Inverness High School


Salary: 28988 - 31210* per annum plus generous employer pension contributions and other benefits. *Salary will be revised in line with annual salary award effective 1 April 2026.

Contract: Full Time/Fixed term for 3 years

Location: Hybrid: Merkinch Community/Home


Who we are:

Scripture Union Scotland is a national charity with 140 staff and 2500 volunteers. Our vision is to see every child and young person of Scotland exploring the Bible and responding to the significance of Jesus.


At the heart of our current strategy is a focus on growing SU Scotlands ministry especially in priority communities and with priority schools and children removing barriers and partnering with local churches.


Building on the experience and impact of Ferrywell in Edinburgh () and Junction 12 in Glasgow () a key focus for the next period is planting more local Christian youth projects in priority communities to share the love of Jesus with children young people and their families.


For the past two yearswe have had the privilege of supportingMerkinchPrimary School offering various weekly in-school and out-of-school activities. A group of volunteers are already engaging with the project.Morerecently similaropportunities have arisen atInverness High School. The workwithin the schoolshas grownandit isnowessential to appoint a full-timeProjectDevelopmentWorkerto bringincreasedleadershipwithin the project.


Purpose

Reporting to our Ministry at the Margins Lead this role involvesdeveloping and leading the existing work begun within Merkinch South Kessock and the Inverness High School catchment.

To achieve this we want toidentifysomeonewith a vibrant Christian faithwho understandslifeforyoung peoplewithin a priority community. They should be able tobuildpositivetrustingand supportiverelationshipsandhavepreviousproven experience of this type of ministrywithchildren and young people.

For this post it is important that you are committed to SU Scotlands ethos working principles and vision and can demonstrate this through your commitment and motivation. It is also an Occupational Requirement (Equality Act - part 1 schedule 9) that the post-holder is a committed Christian.
