Position: Head Football Coach
Location: Liberal High School
Reports To:Director of Athletics and Activities
Job Summary:
USD 480 in Liberal Kansas is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Football Coach to lead the high school football program. The ideal candidate will inspire student-athletes promote sportsmanship and ensure compliance with Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) rules and regulations. The coach will oversee all aspects of the football program including coaching recruitment program development and the academic and personal growth of student-athletes. Teaching opportunities are available for qualified candidates based on their licensure and the districts needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Leadership:
- Oversee the entire high school football program including varsity junior varsity and freshman teams.
- Develop a long-term vision for the program that promotes player development and competitive excellence.
- Ensure compliance with KSHSAA rules and district policies.
Coaching & Training:- Plan and conduct effective practices game strategies and training programs.
- Teach fundamental and advanced football skills while fostering sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Promote injury prevention and safety protocols in collaboration with athletic trainers.
Student-Athlete Development:- Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes ensuring their eligibility and success in the classroom.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to foster character discipline and leadership among players.
Administrative Duties:- Manage team schedules including practices games and tournaments.
- Coordinate transportation facilities and equipment needs with the Athletic Director.
- Develop and manage the football program budget.
Community Engagement:- Build positive relationships with parents staff and community stakeholders.
- Actively promote the football program through community outreach fundraising and public events.
Staff Supervision:- Recruit train and oversee assistant coaches ensuring alignment with program goals and philosophies.
- Provide regular evaluations and professional development opportunities for coaching staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required; teaching certification preferred.
- Previous high school or collegiate coaching experience (head coaching experience preferred).
- Knowledge of KSHSAA rules regulations and eligibility requirements.
- Strong organizational communication and leadership skills.
- Commitment to student-athlete academic success and personal development.
- Ability to work evenings weekends and travel as required for games and events.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate football techniques and participate in practices as needed.
- Capability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
