Your role

Based in Brussels the Marketing and Business Development (MBD) team provides both strategic and operational support to the firms lawyers.

To strengthen the MBD team we are seeking a Business Development (BD) Advisor who is eager to make a tangible impact and to contribute to the firms development in a rapidly evolving legal services market.

Working in close collaboration with the other members of the Business Development team you will play an active role in implementing the firms strategic business development initiatives across the Belgian offices (Brussels and Antwerp) as well as the firms offices in Africa (Kinshasa and Kigali) and in London.

In this role you will support lawyers in the further development of their practices across a broad range of legal areas and industry sectors.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and advise on the preparation of proposals to win profitable mandates including RFPs panel pitches capability statements and public tenders; Manage the full pitch process from scoping and kick-off meetings to defining the optimal strategy drafting coordinating and gathering post-submission client feedback.
  • Maintain and update the firms BD databases and CRM tools supporting lawyers in effectively using these systems.
  • Coordinate support and contribute to submissions for legal directories and industry awards highlighting the firms expertise in collaboration with lawyers.
  • Support lawyers in developing and strengthening key client relationships through tailored client management programs with a focus on cross-selling and client retention.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives including cross-selling programs sector-specific campaigns and client team development.
  • Conduct market client and sector research and analysis; identify potential business opportunities and present actionable insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Work closely with Marketing Communications and Events team to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to all business development activities.

Your profile

  • Proven 5y experience in business development marketing or commercial project management within a B2B services environment; experience in legal or professional services is a strong asset.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in law business economics or any related disciplines.
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills in English Dutch and French; able to influence convince and engage senior internal stakeholders.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office tools in particular Word PowerPoint and Excel; experience with data analysis and reporting tools is an asset.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and deliver high-quality output under tight deadlines.
  • Strategic and analytical mindset combined with a pragmatic solution-oriented approach; able to formulate clear actionable recommendations.
  • Highly service-oriented and proactive with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Curious and commercially minded with the ability to identify opportunities and translate insights into business development actions.
  • Agile and adaptable with the flexibility to respond to evolving priorities and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset able to work effectively with lawyers senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to apply sound judgement and common sense.
