Description / Position Overview

Inspector III - Public Works Maintenance Operations
The City of Colorado Springs is ready to welcome an Inspector III to the Public Works Maintenance Operations team! As an Inspector III you will perform highly technical preliminary interim and final construction inspections for assigned engineering projects. These projects include roads streets appurtenant structures catch basins storm basins bridges drainage facilities buildings sidewalks curbs and gutters cross pans and squared returns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade (high school diploma or GED)
  • Five years of full-time professional experience in a related field
  • Possess and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado drivers license not subject to restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • An associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering technology or a related field
  • Inspection certifications in material testing especially in asphalt paving concrete placement and drainage maintenance
  • Understanding of snow removal practices
  • Experience with overseeing drainage functions
  • Possess upon hire and maintain a valid non-probationary Colorado Class B CDL not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges

(NOTE: CURRENT CDLs MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) DRUG AND ALCOHOL CLEARINGHOUSE AT .)

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally and20 lbs. frequently and sit stand and walk for extended periods. The ability to safely operate assigned vehicles is also required.

Environmental Conditions
Primary Work Environment - Office/field setting with travel from site to site

Extreme Temperature - Daily (possible exposure to inclement weather)
Wetness and Humidity - Daily
Respiratory Hazards - Several times per week (dirt dust gases/fumes odors)
Noise and Vibrations - Daily
Physical Hazards - Daily (toxic chemicals)
Mechanical and/or Electrical Hazards - Occasionally (electrical currents)
