This is a new Communications Specialist role that will support the Executives Office Human Resources and Finance. Youll work closely with the County Executive and other senior county leadership as a trusted partner in keeping employees and the public informed about key county initiatives. Your communication skills will help people clearly understand whats happening across the organization through timely transparent and well-crafted messaging.


You will collaborate with Finance on budget and process communications support Human Resources on organizational priorities lead internal communication and work alongside the Executives Office to support speechwriting media relations storytelling and content creation. You will partner with senior leaders to help employees understand processes or organizational changes strengthen interdepartmental coordination and support leadership in delivering effective public service.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze issues of concern and emerging trends to management; provide strategic communication objectives techniques and plans.
  • Provide strategic counsel to management and other internal customers regarding communication needs.
  • Communicate with the media write and edit news releases.
  • Establish and maintain communication standards including the Countys logo/branding policy.
  • Work effectively on a deadline during an emergency

Qualifications

  • A resume cover letter and 2-3 recent work samples that are reflective of the work you can produce independently are required for this position. Applications without a resume cover letter and 2-3 recent work samples will not be considered.
  • A Bachelors degree in marketing communications journalism or a closely related field; and
  • 3-5 years of related professional communications experience including web management/development experience is required.
  • Additional education or experience that clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of this position may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
