Required Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED;
Four (4) years of maintenance experience.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
Experience working in facility maintenance in a group setting such as residential apartment complexes or college/university residence halls.
At least six (6) months of supervisory experience.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Co-supervise all skilled tradesmen apprentice tradesmen and maintenance assistants in their daily work;
Assist in the training of all new maintenance employees;
Assist supervisor with feedback and evaluations of employees;
Plan duties for employees and self to perform maintenance needs based on priority deadlines supplies availability and personnel skills;
Monitor all work orders that are submitted to the Office of Campus Living for completion;
Inspect work being completed to ensure standards are maintained in accordance with standard trade practices and departmental protocols;
Purchase materials and supplies following university and departmental protocols in the absence of the supervisor;
Assist in maintaining work order records with the Office of Campus Living and inventory control of the maintenance workshop;
Coordinate restoration work to prepare vacant properties for rental such as moving furniture and appliances and removing general debris;
Perform preventative routine and emergency maintenance in residence halls apartments and rental houses;
Provide after-hours and weekend response for student and facility-related emergencies as needed;
Perform other maintenance duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic supervision policies and procedures;
Ability to provide administrative guidance and oversight within the scope of the positions responsibilities;
Knowledge of general maintenance procedures in carpentry plumbing electrical and HVAC;
Knowledgeable in the use of chemicals such as paints cleaning products and lawn supplies;
Ability to climb a ladder and work on roofs and under houses in tight spaces;
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 75 pounds;
Ability to drive motorized vehicles;
Ability to work outside in cold and hot temperatures.
