Kern Regional Center is one of 21 private non-profit regional centers contracted by the State of California through the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate community-based services and support for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. Kern Regional Center services over 10000 individuals in Kern Inyo and Mono Counties. Our counties cover approximately 22000 square miles with a population of over 945000 people.
Kern Regional Center is looking for a dedicated Support Services Technician who will be responsible for general office support with a variety of clerical activities maintains electronic client records and related tasks. They will prepare client charts for imaging and ensure documents are of imaging quality. They will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of filing into electronic records and ensure accurate placement of documents. They will be responsible to provide assistance to the staff as needed and to clear simple paper jams restocking paper and toner. The Support Services Technician will be responsible for taking phone calls responding to emails and other clerical tasks.
Requirements
The ideal candidate:
- Microsoft Office including Word Outlook and Excel
- General office equipment
- Generic public resources and development disabilities
Ability to:
- Understand and be empathetic to the problems experienced by consumers and their families.
- Establish and maintain comfortable and effective relationships with others.
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Prioritize varied work assignments
- Complete documentation within required timelines.
- Use computer and software
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The following requirements generally demonstrate possession of the minimum requisite knowledge and ability necessary to perform the duties of the position.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience and/or training in a high volume office environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Possession of a valid California Drivers License and State automobile insurance and acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout.
- Full use of automobile or ability to provide for independent transportation
- Must be able to drive to various sites as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters in performing the essential functions of this job.
- Work is primarily performed in professional office environment
- Manual dexterity for typing on a computer keyboard.
- Vision required viewing computer monitor read numbers and printed material.
- Mobility sufficient to reach lift and transport files and other work material to work areas.
- Mobility sufficient to visit clients homes community services providers sites and public meetings.
Salary range for this position $17.10 to $20.79 per hour
Starting salary range $17.10 to $17.96 per hour.
