About the role Mō te tūranga:
Were seeking a motivated and eager individual to step into a Trainee role or if youre a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician to join our Core Laboratory. This is a permanent part-time position of 50 hours per fortnight (late afternoon/evening shift) and a fantastic opportunity to gain experience develop your skills and contribute to vital laboratory operations.
In this role you will support the daily operations of the laboratory by performing a range of essential tasks including demonstrating strong attention to detail and organisational skills and maintaining a commitment to high-quality service and laboratory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Barcoding receipting and preparing specimens as they arrive at the laboratory.
- Entering patient and test details accurately into the system.
- Answering telephones and handling enquiries professionally.
- Work well under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and a high degree of accurate.
- Be willing to learn new skills and adapt to changing procedures.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Maintain a friendly customer-focused approach at all times.
- Show initiative and be self-sufficient in your day-to-day tasks.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
- A positive and friendly approach to your work.
- Compassion for others including a real desire to provide high-quality care to a wide variety of patients of all ages and circumstances.
- Excellent customer service skills including a high level of personal presentation.
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to follow processes accurately even when under pressure.
- Respect for always ensuring patient confidentiality and in all matters.
- Diploma in Applied Science or a Bachelor of Science would be an advantage but not essential.
- A clean New Zealand Drivers Licence.
- Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
