About the role

This position is responsible for leading a high-performing Finance Business Partnering function that delivers Financial Planning and Analysis to support evidence-based decision-making across Council.

The role provides strategic and operational financial leadership to enable sound financial planning monitoring forecasting and performance reporting ensuring the organisations financial sustainability and optimal outcomes for the community.

Working in close partnership with the Chief Financial Officer Executive Leadership Team and senior managers the role drives continuous improvement in financial maturity financial literacy and the integration of financial and non-financial information to support Councils Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R) framework.

On a daily basis you will:

  • Partner with the CFO to provide high-quality financial advice insights and analysis to the Executive Leadership Team Council ARIC and Finance Committee.
  • Lead best-practice financial planning forecasting and performance management frameworks that support informed decision-making.
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of the Councils Operational Budget and Quarterly Business Reviews working closely with key stakeholders and the CFO.
  • Oversee the analysis of financial and non-financial data to ensure all reporting and recommendations are aligned with Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) requirements and support the achievement of community outcomes.
  • Provide professional financial partnering advice to the Leadership team develop and report on the Long-Term Financial Plan review operations and provide recommendations for productivity revenue or cost saving initiatives.
  • Identify productivity revenue efficiency and cost-saving opportunities and provide practical recommendations to the business.
  • Prepare complex business cases briefing notes reports and other material as required by the CFO on matters of strategic and organisational significance.

About You

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 10 years relevant financial management experience in a complex organisation preferably local government or a similar public sector environment.

You will also bring:

  • BusinessFinanceorCommerceDegree(majorinAccountingorsimilar).
  • CAorCPAqualification
  • At least 2 years experience leading and developing a professional finance or financial planning & analysis team.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering financial planning budgeting forecasting and performance reporting in compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and elected bodies through high-quality financial advice and analysis

We are offering a full-time permanent opportunity with an attractive remuneration from $173215.21 to $192032.62 plus 12% superannuation.
