It also includes practical support like helping our clients link with Centrelink Medicare schools and other local services through using your bilingual language skills. Current client languages include but are not limited to: Swahili Kinyarawanda Kinyamulenge Kirundi Ukrainian Russian Arabic Farsi Dari Hazari Burmese Kurdish Kurmanji and opportunityHSP volunteers are friendly accepting and flexible individuals who are motivated to support the learning and comfortable settlement of newly arrived refugees. All the areas within the program are supported by the Red Cross caseworkers and Community this role you will need good cross-cultural communication skills and the ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of people including those with different lived experiences abilities and Cross will ensure you have training ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the worlds largest humanitarian impactHSP volunteers are a vital connection between refugees and their new communities. As part of the Humanitarian Settlement Program you will contribute to creating a friendly and inclusive environment that will help refugees feel welcome. Your impact will be tangible and you will see your contribution making a different to someones life. Application requirementsFor this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check organised through RedCross and renewed every 5 yearsTo submit this application you will need to provide details for two professional references a CV is optionalThe role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working with Children Check or Working with Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory.
