Under the supervision of the Director of Youth Arts Education the ideal candidate is prepared to be a role model to their team and children alike has a can-do demeanor has experience and loves working with children and has experience in or avid appreciation for the performing arts. They must have Sunday afternoon and Monday evening JCC and the CTPC celebrate both being proudly Jewish and being an inclusive space for all. We welcome staff and participants from diverse backgrounds and actively strive to provide an open and welcoming setting irrespective of personal practices beliefs or backgrounds. We expect our musical director will create an equitable classroom environment by performing their duties with empathetic understanding towards every student regardless of their gender sexuality race ability or YOU WILL DO: Production assistants supervise students and keep them on schedule entertained and safe in rehearsals. This includes but is not limited to: gathering children at the start of rehearsal and dismissal of students; setting up breaking down and cleaning the rehearsal space(s); helping children navigate rehearsals and assisting the director with redirection and maintaining discipline; effectively communicating with the teaching artist(s) to help find quick solutions when necessary; escorting children to the washroom when needed; and other duties as directed. Production assistants must be eager to help to the best of their ability with every aspect of backstage to ensure the professional quality and flow of the production for both technical rehearsals and shows. This includes but is not limited to safely maneuvering set pieces; setting up breaking down and cleaning prop tables; helping children navigate walk-ways costume and/or wig changes and the order of show; effectively communicating with other production assistants to find quick solutions when necessary; and other duties as directed. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for students and with professionalism the Arts & Culture Department when interacting with parents or community in other JCC Arts & Culture events as in training staff meetings and special other duties as must adhere to CTPC Policies as outlined :Production assistants are expected at all rehearsals (technical rehearsals included) and performance dates listed below. All production assistants are obligated to participate in strike and strike typically occurs directly after the conclusion of the closing performance. Production assistants must attend at least one training to review backstage performance assignments with the director and/or assistant for Arts & Culture Enrichment Policies: agree to wear appropriate clothing and shoes. The dress code is all black clothing with close-toed (preferably dark colored) tennis or appropriate to class dance shoes (ie ballet shoes for ballet jazz shoes for hip hop or jazz etc.). people 16 years or older must present a PHOTO ID to access the JCC are background-checked with fingerprints on are trained in preventing and detecting child abuse and reporting are available to move supplies and equipment into or out of the building. Kitchens are not available for personal use. Rooms/spaces must be left in the condition in which they were food given to children must be approved by the supervisor. Staff and outside guardians will not be permitted to bring in any outside food to give to the children. If a guardian or adult asks if they can they must email the supervisor and/or the staff needs to inform the supervisor so they can be contacted directly. The supervisor must receive all outside food requests 5 days will be always in the room and responsible for the well-being and safety of the may not be nailed tacked or taped to the walls. Exit doors must be always left unlocked and unobstructed. Posting on walls or doors may be done using Blue Painters tape assumes no liability or responsibility for damage or loss of personal property of any kind whether brought into the building or while on the premises. All such personal property including motor vehicles brought or left on the premises shall at all times be at the owners risk. Production assistants agree to indemnify and hold the JCC and CTPC harmless from all claims for loss injury or damage to any person or property will anywhere on the premises. Please note that all JCC locations are smoke-free and drug-free the Production Assistant understand and acknowledge that this letter agreement does not constitute an agreement for employment or create any obligation of JCC or CTPC to offer you employment or future YOU ARE:Sunday afternoon & Monday evening availability. This job requires high energy and interaction with staff as well as with members other agency staff community leaders and outside partners vendors others. The workspace may be noisy at performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle objects tools or controls and speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with their hands and arms.
