Student knowledge of this sector will be increased allowing them to make better informed career choice opportunityA student placement with the Australian Red Cross will give you exposure to the operations of the worlds largest humanitarian organization. It provides chances of meaningful learning and opportunities to engage in hands-on tasks gain relevant skills and experience. Among other things you will have the opportunity to:With the support of your supervisor build up to provide quality casework support which identifies key client strengths needs resources available to meet those needs and the methods to assist the client to achieve meaningful change and self-agencyProvide support and advocacy to clients to enable them to link into essential servicesSupport and help coordinate our team of talented volunteers Assist in the development of practice and program policy procedures guideline tools process charts and protocols as requiredContribute to the operational needs of the program in line with cultural and professional boundaries Participate in team meetings and catch-ups with supervisors as requiredMigration Support volunteers are friendly accepting and flexible individuals who are motivated to support the learning and comfortable settlement of vulnerable migrants. All the areas within the program are supported by the Red Cross caseworkers and the Volunteer Engagement Officer. Training and ongoing development opportunities are offered as part of the impactAs part of our Migration Support Programs Red Cross provides help and support to refugees and people seeking asylum people in immigration detention and others who are vulnerable as a result of migration. We help based on need and vulnerability not visa will also provide a helpful insight into organisational culture professional practice and corporate networking. We take pride in the variety of competencies students stand to develop as part of their time with will have the opportunity to input into our programs services and processes while learning about the work we do. The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working With Children Check or Working With Vulnerable People Check depending on your State/Territory.
