General Foreperson

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced General Foreperson to join our Southern Water team within Galliford Try working on a major crosscountry pipeline project based in the Southampton area.

If youre a handson leader who brings strong site experience excellent organisational skills and a passion for delivering highquality civil engineering works then this is a role where you can make a real difference and be part of a growing supportive team.

What you will be doing:

Working closely with the Site Manager youll play a key leadership role in daytoday site delivery and the successful execution of the project. Your responsibilities include:

  • Supporting and coordinating the initial site setup ensuring systems and procedures are put in place effectively.
  • Enforcing rigorous methods and controls to ensure efficient use of Galliford Try resources.
  • Managing direct labour teams including foremen gangers and operatives to deliver civil works safely and efficiently.
  • Delivering and overseeing more complex civil engineering activities.
  • Carrying out 10minute briefings toolbox talks and workforce engagement sessions.
  • Reading and interpreting construction drawings and completing accurate material takeoffs.
  • Procuring plant and materials using the Galliford Try ORBIT procurement system.
  • Reviewing RAMS briefing the workforce and ensuring tasks are fully understood.
  • Maintaining accurate daily records including site diaries allocation sheets plant returns and GRNs.
  • Managing resources in line with the programme and ensuring productivity meets project requirements.
  • Contributing to weekly programme/progress meetings and advising on progress resourcing and performance.
  • Working closely with subcontractors on site to support efficient project delivery.
  • Identifying technical issues and feeding back to the project team.
  • Supporting and developing direct reports to drive continuous improvement across the site team.

About You:

Youll be a proactive safetyfocused leader with strong civil engineering experience and the ability to manage teams effectively. Were looking for someone with:

Essential

  • SMSTS

  • CSCS

  • First Aid qualification

  • Temporary Works Supervisor

  • Previous experience in Clean Water Pipelines or Tunnelling

Desirable

  • Confined Space training

  • EUSR Water Hygiene

  • Cat & Genny training
