We are seeking a Temporary Controller for a full-time temporary role. The controller is responsible for overseeing accounting financial reporting and internal controls while ensuring compliance with nonprofit-specific laws and standards. This is a Hybrid full-time temporary role.

POSITION TITLE: Controller
SCHEDULE: 40 hrs/week - Hybrid - 3 days in office - 2 days remote
DURATION: Temporary 3-6 months
Pay- $40/hr - $60/hr
Is This Your Dream Job The Controller plans and directs the companys accounting operations ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. Contributes to the financial stability and transparency of the organization and supports the mission.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or Business Administration required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management and accounting preferably in the nonprofit sector or social services organizations.
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and practices including fund accounting grant accounting and financial reporting.
- Proven experience in financial reporting budgeting and forecasting.
- In-depth understanding of internal controls compliance and nonprofit financial management best practices.
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software and financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
How You Will Spend Your Day:
- Oversees all accounts ledgers and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Ensures timely and accurate preparation and submission of monthly quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Stays updated on changes in accounting standards tax regulations and nonprofit financial reporting requirements ensuring the organizations compliance.
- Responsible for the correct capture of financial-related events (business acquisitions asset dispositions etc.) in the financial statements and related disclosures.
- Monitors financial performance analyzes variances and budget-to-actual variances. and provides insights to senior management.
- Designs and manages the chart of accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting by units and maintenance of accounting software.
- Informs the annual budgeting process collaborating with senior leaders to develop comprehensive budgets aligned with organizational goals.
- Establishes and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard the organizations assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards regulations and grant requirements.
- Manages day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger.
- Oversees cash flow management and daily cash balance reporting ensuring adequate liquidity and timely processing of payments and receipts.
- Coordinates with external auditors for annual audits and provides necessary documentation and support.
- Supervises and mentors finance department staff providing guidance performance feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Fosters a culture of collaboration accountability and continuous improvement within the finance department.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures as outlined in the Brightpoint Employee Handbook.
- Collects reviews and utilizes data and information on programs and services to inform program/department performance.
- Participates in regular supervision and staff meetings as required by the department.
- Attends required trainings.
