YPP is designed to meet the needs of a highly vulnerable group in the community pregnant and parenting young women and men who are unable to access elsewhere the safety security and support required to parent effectively. YPP takes a strengths-based early intervention approach building the capacity of young parents to live independently in appropriate housing develop parenting and life skills to ensure best outcomes for their children and break the cycle of intergenerational trauma abuse and opportunityAustralian Red Cross recognises that placements give students the opportunity to gain specific skills to their subject or industry of choice as well as the employability skills required for real-life work. It also increases their knowledge of an industry or sector allowing them to make better informed decisions about their future career choices. It will also provide a helpful insight into organizational culture professional socialisation applied skills and working recognise the diversity of competencies students develop as part of the experience with this role you will need good conversational skills and the ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of people including those with different lived experiences abilities and cultures. You will be comfortable using Cross will ensure you have training ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the worlds largest humanitarian network. The impactAs a student on placement you will help young parents to improve their capacity to live and parent independently. You will have the opportunity to learn from many peoples diverse history and knowledge as well as feeling the satisfaction of giving back to others. Application requirementsFor this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check which will be organised through Red Cross. To submit this an application you will be need to upload a recent copy of your CV and/or provide details for two professional will need a NSW Working With Children Check.
