The New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is the largest organization in the United States dedicated to preventing and addressing partnership with other City agencies and nonprofit organizations DHS works to prevent homelessness before it begins reduce street homelessness provide temporary shelter and connect individuals and families to stable housing all with a focus on accountability empathy and equity.

DHS is committed to continuous improvement and employs innovative strategies to deliver high-quality services that support a swift transition from shelter to self-sufficiency. The agency manages hundreds of facilities and operates with a large team as well as a several billion-dollar budget to meet the diverse needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness.

The Division of Shelter Intake is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the agencys Single Adult Adult Families and Families with Childrens intake and assessment sites both directly run and contracted providers. This Division is responsible for ensuring that the Citys most vulnerable population can access shelter per eligibility criteria 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year.


The Department of Homeless Services is recruiting (1) Supervisor II (SS) at the PATH diversion program within the Shelter Intake Division.

The Supervisor II team provides high-level oversight of Supervisor I and ensures consistency in training and operations. They facilitate training programs maintain an up-to-date resource manual and track compliance with agency-wide training requirements. Their role is essential in maintaining a well-informed workforce and ensuring high-quality service delivery.

The Supervisor II will:

-Provide supervision and technical assistance to the social services staff.

-Function as liaison with shelter staff and community-based providers to facilitate client placement into alternative housing and receive support services.

-Refer staff to the DHS Training Bureau to ensure social service staff receive adequate and ongoing training. Including all agency identified mandatory training.

-Develop and monitor staffing schedules; prepare and review monthly reports on program activities and staff operations.

-Coordinate/participate in case conferences and internal/external meetings.

-Make recommendations for the development of innovative strategies/techniques to enhance programs that meet client needs.

-Collaborate with DHS contracted sites and various agencies directly involved with providing services for the homeless and monitor non-compliant clients.

Qualifications :

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of full-time satisfactory experience in social casework at least one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.
