Corrections Lieutenant Juvenile Division

Position Overview
The Corrections Lieutenant provides leadership and oversight for daily operations within the Juvenile Division. This position supervises correctional staff ensures compliance with Federal Tribal and BIA regulations and supports the Deputy Chief and Chief of Corrections in the overall management of facility functions. The role requires strong leadership sound judgment and a commitment to professionalism safety and integrity.
Key Responsibilities
Receive direction from the Deputy Chief and Chief of Corrections and exercise authority over facility operations personnel and shift activities.
Provide direct supervision to Correctional Sergeants.
Monitor evaluate and document the job performance of Sergeants.
Ensure compliance with BIA standards Tribal regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
Administer corrective action and discipline for staff violations of rules and regulations.
Assign work duties and review or prepare staff schedules to ensure proper security coverage for all posts.
Conduct regular facility inspections to maintain safety and security standards.
Oversee kitchen operations and supervise kitchen staff.
Conduct monthly supervisory meetings and provide ongoing leadership support.
Other duties may be required to meet organizational needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Correctional Supervisor in a Federal State County or Tribal correctional facility.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervise Correctional Sergeants and kitchen staff.
Carry out supervisory duties in accordance with departmental policies and procedures including participation in interviews and hiring processes.
Maintain thorough knowledge of Hualapai Juvenile Detention Center policies procedures post orders use-of-force guidelines and emergency protocols.
Demonstrate strong knowledge of supervisory practices scheduling requirements training methods and operational coverage needs.
Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats; develop and implement policies and procedures as needed.
Supervise personnel involved in inmate processing supervision and care.
Read interpret and apply complex information and regulations.
Defend self and others from combative or hostile inmates when necessary.
Operate computers and standard office equipment.
Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Perform manual tasks associated with detention operations.
