Job Summary:
Manage the Manufacturing Engineering department.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures that necessary equipment is identified in place and economically used
- Develops and organizes manufacturing processes including manufacturing process documentation work instructions welding procedures etc.
- Continually improves existing manufacturing processes as a means of improving productivity efficiency quality and safety
- Develops and delivers work center routings for manufactured products released from the Production Engineering and Applied Technologies Engineering teams
- Manages variances in planned versus actual labor and materials costs
- Prepares and presents justifications and ROIs in proposed capital expenditures including implementation of emerging technologies
- Provides shop support to the manufacturing work centers throughout the company
- Delivers accurate and efficient programs to the CNC machines throughout the company
- Hire train coach support evaluate and discipline assigned personnel
- Oversees the Quality Department
- Use quality metrics to improve efficiency and performance
- Abide by support and enforce company policies
- Ensure department business operations are in compliance with applicable laws regulations and company policies
- Complete employee performance evaluations and other personnel documentation in accordance with company policies
- Administer and monitor Performance Improvement Plans and Corrective Action
- Review and approve employee timesheets; ensure accuracy and conformance with company policies and payroll processes
- Train monitor and support safety policies and processes in order to protect employees and others against occupational accidents injuries and illnesses
- Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with all applicable regulatory industry and other pertinent standards
- Prepare and administer annual operational and capital budget plan
- Prepare reports for and attend company management meetings
- Raise cross-departmental non-compliance issues with the appropriate level of management
- Maintain confidentiality and protect proprietary information
- Periodic domestic and international travel required depending upon customer and company business needs
- In order to achieve business objectives work weeks in excess of 40 hours may be required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering required
- Minimum of ten (10) years engineering design and/or leadership experience
- Ability to develop and improve processes relative to manufacturing and engineering design and quality to help optimize efficiency productivity and continual improvement
- Demonstrated ability to lead mentor motivate and coach others
- Must work independently without supervision exercising discretion and judgment
- Successful completion of Wagstaff-approved management training program
Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job work is performed primarily in an adequately lit well ventilated climate controlled general office environment. Close computer work is regularly required. The work usually involves minimal physical exertion. The noise level in the general office environment is usually moderate.
This job may require occasional or more frequent interaction with employees on the manufacturing shop floor. While on the shop floor the employee may be exposed to fumes airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals risks of moving equipment and parts and other risks associated with a manufacturing environment. Because of this environment and associated risks coordination with shop floor managers/employees may be necessary before entering the shop floor and use of job appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing is required on the shop floor. The noise level on the shop floor is often loud.
