JOB SUMMARY

  • The Field Training Officer (FTO) functions as the trainer for all newly hired Security Officers and will be the immediate supervisor of the new Officer trainees. This role has the greatest impact and influence on the new Officer. The FTO will perform all duties in accordance with Caesars Entertainment policies and within the realm of the Caesars Entertainment Mission Statement.
  • The FTO may be utilized as a supervision resource for Officers when a Security Shift Manager or Security Shift Supervisor is not readily available.

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications will be required for the Field Training Officer.

  • High school graduate or equivalent is required
  • 2 to 3 years preferred security experience
  • Successful completion of the Field Training Academy is required
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once
  • A thorough knowledge of accepted Gaming and Security procedures
  • Teaching and/or training background preferred
  • Computer knowledge and skills required
  • Must be able to obtain a CCW (Carry Concealed Weapons) permit. Successful completion of a Firearms Qualification Course is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and possess a Nevada Gaming Card an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES) and have a current and valid Nevada Drivers License.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Training Officer must maintain their performance level as a Security Officer and is not relieved of these responsibilities during training. These duties may be modified; however the FTO must be able to quickly assume the role of a floor Officer as needed. Since the FTO is a functioning Officer he/she must also be able to train all trainees in their charge while completing assigned duties.The FTO will have specific responsibilities to include but not limited to the following areas and criteria:

  • SUPERVISION The FTO will act as the immediate Supervisor for all trainees in their charge. The trainee will make mistakes and these mistakes are to be addressed and corrected during the training process. The FTO is the vital link in the chain of command. The FTO has supervisory responsibilities when passing information up or down the chain of command.
  • TEACHING The role of the FTO will be that of a teacher. The FTO must lead by example and be beyond reproach. The teaching role may and in most cases will be in the field under actual conditions. There may be other times when teaching will occur in a formal classroom setting using lesson plans and/or visual aids. At all times company and department policy and procedure must be adhered to.
  • EVALUATION The FTO in the role of a teacher - will also be an evaluator. The FTO must develop and use skills to evaluate if learning is occurring or whether remedial training is necessary.
  • COUNSELING The FTO will be placed into a situation from time to time where they must become a problem solver for the trainee. This may include the handling of personal problems. The FTO must use tact and professionalism to resolve issues. All information obtained will remain confidential and be forwarded to the Security Shift Manager and /or the Security Shift Supervisor.
  • STAFFING On occasion the FTO will be called upon to perform some type of staffing duties. These duties may include reorganization of program functions (IE special events concerts etc.) teaching assignments or various duties that would help and /or improve the department and function.
  • INSPECTING The FTO will be responsible for the inspection of the trainees uniform and equipment that must comply with company and department policy and procedures. The FTO will also approve all job tasks and paperwork.
  • DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION The FTO must make sure the trainee is receiving the necessary information and will be responsible for making their trainees record this information and have the information available upon request.
  • BEING A ROLE MODEL The FTO must be a positive role model. This is in part accomplished by maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance adhering to rules and regulations policies and procedures and having a positive attitude towards the department management the training program and towards the trainee.
  • RECOMMENDING The FTO is responsible for the initial recommendation to management concerning training. The FTO must decide whether to graduate a trainee from a particular phase or from the FTEP program or recommend remedial training in any phase or consider termination from the program. The decision to terminate will be made higher up the chain of command but the FTO must bring substandard workmanship or failure to accomplish training to the attention of management in the training phases.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • The FTO performs all duties of the Security Officer as needed.
  • The FTO must / will be a role model to the trainee and lead by example. The FTOs attitude and behavior must be beyond reproach and the FTO must follow all company and department policies and procedures to ensure proper training.
  • Every FTO has the responsibility of constantly assessing the performance of the trainee and making appropriate suggestions if needed to bring the performance up to required standards.
  • The FTO will be held accountable to the Security Shift Manager and / or Security Shift Supervisor for all equipment and its serviceability issued to the trainee in the performance of their duties.
  • Field Training Officers will complete the paperwork necessary relating to job performance on newly hired Security Officers assigned to the Field Training and Evaluation Program and submit them in a timely manner to their Security Shift Manager and / or Security Shift Supervisor.
  • The FTO will ensure each Officers personal appearance is in compliance with Caesars Entertainment current policies and as stated in the departments P&P manual.
  • The FTO will ensure all reports and correspondence with respect to their trainees are properly completed and turned in to the Security Shift Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • The FTO answers telephones using proper telephone etiquette and dispatches to the appropriate departments.
  • The FTO continually evaluates subordinates for alertness appearance and proper performance of their duties.
  • The FTO reports any unsafe conditions to the Security Shift Supervisor.
  • The FTO reviews and forwards complaints about Security personnel from guests and employees and reports the findings to the Security Shift Manager and / or Security Shift Supervisor.
  • The FTO performs any and all duties and tasks delegated by the VP of Security the Director of Security the Security Shift Manager or the Security Shift Supervisor.
  • The FTO will provide remedial training to Security Officers when necessary as directed by Security management

  • Must possess good report writing skills.

PHYSICAL MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to work and stand inside and outside sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees or cold as low as 10 degrees.
  • Must be able to physically restrain individuals when a condition of arrest exists.
  • Must be able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and be able to make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to stoop bend jump twist crouch grip carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
  • Must be able to see and also remember the specific details of incidents and persons. Must be able to give court testimony when necessary and write detailed reports. The Security Field Training Officer must be able to read write speak and understand English.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing second hand smoke high noise levels bright lights and dust.
  • Must pass the physical and written testing of the Western Division Security Academy (Controlled Force Defensive Tactics Legal Issues Handcuffing Tactical Communications Use of Force Report Writing Searching Subjects Emergency Response Ethics and Expandable Baton) within the first ninety days of employment.
  • Must re-certify between years 2 and 3 through the Western Division Security Academy and must pass all physical mental and environmental demands as required.
