Job Overview

Under the general direction of the IMAX Chief Projectionist the Digital Cinema Technician (Projectionist) oversees the daily operation and monitoring of the IMAX 4K laser projection system. This role ensures seamless film presentation in line with the highest industry standards and acts as the first point of contact for technical issues coordinating with the IMAX Network Operations Center for troubleshooting. The technician is also responsible for preparing film content and monitoring playback during daily programming.

Qualifications

We are looking for a Digital Cinema Technician (Projectionist) who will bring a wealth of expertise and initiative to our team. The ideal candidate will have secondary school graduation or equivalent plus a minimum of one-year experience related to digital cinema and/or broadcasting post-production in a theatre environment. Preference may be given to candidates with certified IMAX Laser Safety training.

Attention to detail understanding of audiovisual technology and the ability to perform basic servicing and repairs on electronic/optical systems; as well as excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently will be key assets in this role.

Important work hours note: This auxiliary as and when position will have an estimated 9 hours of work available per week but there is no guaranteed minimum of work hours per week. Availability for day evening weekend and holiday shifts is required. Weekly hours may fluctuate based on additional theatre programming and events staffing needs and operational requirements.
