Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus four years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties:
Serves as statewide legal advisor to the DOTD Real Estate Section providing counsel related to right-of-way acquisition and expropriation matters to ensure project and letting deadlines are met.
Oversees and manages legal operations of the Property Unit including assignment review and approval of legal administrative and clerical work.
Supervises attorneys contract counsel paralegals and clerical staff engaged in property and real estate legal matters.
Provides legal guidance and support in the preparation litigation and resolution of expropriation suits inverse condemnation cases and related administrative proceedings.
Assists with or leads highly complex litigation including jury and non-jury trials and appellate matters when required.
Manages professional service contracts related to litigation support including monitoring performance and approving payments for services and costs.
Monitors and analyzes legislation impacting the Real Estate Section; provides interpretation recommendations and drafts legislation as needed in coordination with executive legal leadership.
Performs special legal and administrative assignments as directed by the General Counsel or executive leadership including emergency or disaster support activities.
