IMSA is committed to equity and excellence including the active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSAs PROMISE Program addresses the unique challenges of culturally linguistically and economically diverse (CLED) students who have an interest in STEM education by providing academic enrichment programming at low to no cost. This grant-funded program is open to all students especially Black or African American students Latinx students students who qualify for the national free or reduced-price meal program as well as students from rural Illinois counties. The PROMISE Program consists of three grade-based experiences serving students 7th -9th grade.
Aurora Campus
Currently we are seeking 2-3 Program Assistants for the Spring 2026 PROMISE Program which serves non-IMSA students currently enrolled in the 7th and 8th grade. The program will run on 8 designated Saturday sessions.
Program Dates and Details:
- Expected work hours are Saturdays 8:00AM - 1:00PM
- Maximum number of participants:
- 7th Grade: 100
- 8th Grade: 100
- Session Dates:
- February 7
- February 21
- February 28
- March 7
- March 14
- March 21
- March 28
- April 18
Program Schedule:
- Four 45 minute classes each session consisting of approximately 25 students per group.
- One period will be designated for a brunch break (Period 3 or 4) depending on grade level
- Schedule:
- Class 1: 9:00 AM - 9:45 AM
- Class 2: 9:50 AM - 10:35 AM
- Class 3: 10:40 AM - 11:20 AM
- Class 4: 11:25 AM - 12:10 PM
- Class 5: 12:15 PM - 1:00 PM
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Attend all scheduled Saturday program sessions including orientation
- Supervision duties begin the moment the first tutor arrives until the last student departs at the conclusion of the program
- Providing support during each session: check in classroom setup transitions etc.
- Weekly check of student tutor eligibility including sending notifications of ineligibility
- Attend all preparation meetings such as tutor training
- Assist Program Manager gather materials as needed
- Serve as liaison with parents regarding safety security or emotional concerns as needed
- Evaluate program effectiveness to develop improved methods
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
This position pays $20.00 per hour. This position is not benefits eligible.
