Status & Classification: Seasonal Part-Time Non-Exempt

*This position requires a commitment from candidates to work the entirety of the 2026 Summer Camp season from approximately May 23rd through August 14th 2026. Start and end dates of employment may vary as needed at the discretion of the Wings Museum Director of Education.


Payrate: $26-$28/hour (depending on experience)


Work Schedule: Monday Friday* 8:30am 5:15pm* 35 hours/week
*This position must accommodate a flexible work schedule with variable hours. Based on After Care enrollments workdays could end at 3:30pm or 5:15pm.

Summary

Summer Camp Instructorsare responsible forteaching and supervising small and large group experiences

for 1530 students along with 23 other Camp Counselors in aviation/aerospace/STEAM focused

programs. They will providea high levelof fun positive communication upbeat attitude safe space and

learning opportunities for children ages 8 12. Summer Camp Instructors willprepareandclean-up

materials andassistin signing-in and releasing campers each position will have the opportunity

to work at one or both Museum locations for the duration of the Wings summer camp

Camp Instructors are members of the Education department who work closely with Summer Camp

Counselors the Education Program Manager Education Program Coordinator and report directly to the

Director of Education.


Organization

Founded in 1994 on the former Lowry Air Force Base in east Denvers historic Lowry Field neighborhood Wings Over the Rockies is a non-profit community organization dedicated to unlocking dreams of flight through exhibits local events and educational programming. We are Colorados official Air & Space Museum having been recognized by CNN Travel as one of their 20 Best aviation museums in the world. Each year we welcome roughly 160000 visitors representing all 50 states and dozens of countries internationally. Wings is committed to diversity inclusion and accessibility. The Museum boasts more than 100000 sq. ft. of open hangar space full of iconic aircraft space vehicles historical artifacts and more. Visitors can experience thrilling flight simulators discover educational programs and participate in one of our many exciting Museum-sponsored events.


Exploration of Flight (EoF) is our flight-focused educational extension. This 15-acre campus is located at the Centennial Airport where we offer showcase events with a variety of aircraft aviation immersion programs pilot ground training and flight experiences. EoF is home to our Blue Sky Gallery exhibit and interactive aviation center featuring an airworthy fleet of civilian and military aircraft.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a positive and fun attitude through courtesy service cooperation sensitivity and professionalism to all campers families and staff
  • Teach aviation/aerospace STEAM camp activities and lessons with theassistanceof Summer Camp Counselors
  • Understand camper/participant needs including any health behavioral and/or disability specific medical conditions
  • Greet families/guardians at the door andassistwith daily sign-in/out of campers
  • Help create engaging STEAM lessons which match weekly themes
  • Interact engage and supervise campers in camp activities
  • Supervise children ranging 8 12 years old during all camp activities workshops and events including daily lunch and snack time
  • Ensure accountability for each camper
  • Help with activity set-up and clean-up
  • Maintain a safeequitable compassionate and fun camp environment
  • Immediately report all issues to Education Program Manager or the Director of Education
  • Maintaina professional demeanor including interactions with parent/guardians counselors students and other staff
  • Attend all mandatory staff trainings


Working Conditions

The Air & Space Museum operates within an 80-year-old aircraft hangar. Exploration of Flight is located at a busy regional airport. Environmental conditions may vary.

Requirements


  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older
  • Must work the entirety of the 2026Summer Camp seasonMay 23 rd throughAugust 14th 2026.
  • Clean background screening and CDE-VECHS criminal history check (fingerprinting)
  • Prior experience as an instructor or teacher in formal or informal settings (preferred)
  • Reliable transportation and on-time arrival for all work shifts
  • Self-motivated energetic confident public speaker
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communicator
  • Strong organizational communication and planning skills
  • Ability to handlea number ofprojects and prioritize work
  • Comfortable working independently and in team settings
  • Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience
  • Commitment to program diversity and inclusion
  • Wear approved uniforms and camp t-shirts
  • Able to lift pull or carry thirty (30) lbs.
  • Must be CPR/First Aid certified or attend Wings-sponsored CPR training prior to the first day of camp
