Position Summary

The GoodHope Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Clinic is the only multidisciplinary clinic in Canada that is available for the diagnosis and management of patients with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Generalized Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (G-HSD). 

Our clinic successfully integrated a Physician Assistant (PA) in the last few years which has helped reduce wait times and improve access to diagnostic assessments and care.

Our enthusiastic and welcoming team is looking to onboard another PA as we expand the clinic. The clinic functions as an outpatient service with patient visits scheduled on weekdays between 9 AM - 5 PM. There are NO weekend evening or call shifts required as part of this service. There is dedicated administrative time provided for charting and clinic preparation. 

The successful candidate will join a team that includes an experienced PA that would help with training and onboarding to ensure a smooth transition. There are opportunities for continuing education that would help towards satisfying the annual maintenance of certification requirements which includes education rounds conferences and team retreats.

There are also opportunities for participation in research studies and career growth as the clinic expands. We hope to utilize the strong skillset of a PA to reduce wait times and become a successful team member.

Duties

  • Utilizing and demonstrating a theoretical knowledge and advanced level of clinical competence and excellence in caring for patients
  • Collecting and interpreting data about the health of patients symptom management developing a medical diagnosis and management plan in a team environment
  • Play a vital role on the interprofessional team and will have quality improvement research and administrative responsibilities
  • Participate in policy or clinical pathway development as well as education and professional development
  • Interact with other team members including consulting physicians other PAs nurse practitioners trainees (residents and fellows) nurses and other clinical and allied health staff

Qualifications :

  • Community College with recognized Office Management Certificate or equivalent Basic Accounting and Medical Terminology
  • Minimum of two years relevant experience; experience in Complex Continuing Care service provision an asset
  • Excellent computer skills: MS Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook Calendar
  • Working knowledge of telephone system photocopier fax machine printer and various other office equipment; working knowledge of PC back-up procedures
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; ability to work under pressure effectively prioritize workload and manage competing priorities
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to function well independently and in a professional manner
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Detail oriented dependable mature and flexible with initiative and capacity to handle a variety of complex tasks simultaneously
  • Willingness to implement new initiatives as required
  • Excellent attendance history
  • Must be proficient in English
