About the Role
We have a compelling opportunity for a senior governance / compliance lawyer seeking to move in-house into our General Counsel and Risk Department ideally based in our Sydney office but may be based in any of our other Australian offices in Melbourne Perth Adelaide or Brisbane. This opportunity is a 12 month maximum term contract.
The role will report directly to the Legal Risk & Compliance Manager. The Senior Conflicts and Compliance lawyer will work as part of the global team and will be responsible for supporting the General Counsel and Company Secretary and the Legal Risk & Compliance Manager in providing a range of legal and compliance services to Dentons and its lawyers. The main features of this role will see you manage Dentons conflict clearance and client approval process including acting as the first escalation point for potential commercial or legal conflict or risk issues identified by the Conflicts and Compliance Lawyer and other members of the Conflicts Team.
The Senior Conflicts and Compliance Lawyer will work closely with the firm locally and globally to streamline conflict processes and analyse information in the firms conflict management system and other databases as well as educating and training staff on conflicts matters and presenting all conflicts / risk presentations across our Australian and PNG offices. About You
This role would suit someone with experience as a conflicts lawyer or within a law firm Office of General Counsel or a lawyer (4-7 years PQE) with relevant corporate commercial and/or compliance or company secretarial experience that has worked in a professional services environment and has excellent research and analytical skills. A high level of attention to detail and a desire to move out of private practice is also sought.
