Job Title: Mainframe Z/OS Administrator

Position Overview
The selected candidate will serve as a subject-matter expert supporting both legacy mainframe systems and initiatives under the Mainframe Transformation Team ensuring data security regulatory compliance and stable day-to-day operations. All work products are considered works made for hire and will remain the property of the Railroad Commission of Texas.
Candidates must successfully pass a criminal background check in accordance with Texas law.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the subject-matter expert (SME) for Mainframe Top Secret Security Administration to ensure data security and regulatory compliance.
Coordinate and execute daily system administration activities including:

- Mainframe configuration
- Break/fix support
- User account creation and access management
- Administer z/OS operating systems and components including planning implementation testing and support of system changes releases and upgrades.
- Conduct routine administration tasks such as:
- Security administration support
- Performance monitoring
- Security monitoring
- System maintenance
- Support data entry and control processes and coordinate mainframe operations within the States Consolidated Data Center Services (DCS).
- Collaborate with Network Administration Customer Support and Application Development & Support teams to ensure seamless mainframe operations.
- Provide end-user support for ISV products such as BlueZone.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience in Mainframe Top Secret Security Administration.
- Strong expertise in z/OS administration and system components.
- Proven experience with:
- Security compliance
- Audit practices
- Risk mitigation in mainframe environments
- Ability to provide advanced technical support for operating systems network components and ISV products.
