Come join the staff at OU HSC and become a part of Oklahomas premier research university which leads the state in education and career opportunities. OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. We are looking for a Senior Cook to join the postion plans and prepare menus prepares food in large production kitchen manages kitchen inventory and performs other duties as needed to fulfill the function of the position.

Duties:

  • Plans develops and assesses costs for menus.
  • Prepares new recipes/entrees salads and other menu items.
  • Monitors and maintains physical inventory weekly and/or monthly.
  • Order produce and other food items on a daily basis.
  • Participates in ongoing skill development courses in order to stay abreast of the latest trends in the food service industry.
  • May prepare specialty foods such as pizzas fish and chips sandwiches or tacos following specific methods that usually require short preparation time.
  • Cleans and maintains food preparation areas cooking surfaces and utensils.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required education and experience: High School Diploma GEDor graduate of a culinary school AND:

  • 36 months food service experience

Certification Preferred: Valid Safe Food Handling and Sanitization Certificate from the State of Oklahoma

  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment & supplies
  • Ability to plan a health conscience menu
  • Ability to interpret information
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to understand profit and loss statement

Working Conditions: Standard restaurant environment

Department preferences:

  • Familiarity with preparation of gourmet and specialty type menu items
  • Some experience in menu planning and costing
  • Experience in complete kitchen management ethnic cooking (including baking) salad preparation entrée selection and pairing
