General Summary

The Nurse Manager provides leadership and oversight for clinical operations across all practice locations. This role ensures high-qualitypatient care regulatory compliance efficient clinical workflows and alignment with organizational goals. TheNurse Manager serves as a keyliaisonbetween providers clinical staff and executive leadership.

Supervisory Requirements

This position will directly supervise the following and have leadership guidance on any positions that report to or through the following:

  • Staffing Manager
  • Registered Nurse
  • Oncology RN
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Medical Assistant
  • Medical Assistant/Scribe
  • Site Coordinators
  • Phlebotomist

Essential Functions

Personnel/Hiring/Orientation/Retention/Disciplinary

  1. Lead train inspire and evaluate all clinicalteammembers of UCA.
  1. Screen interview hire disciplineandterminate in conjunction with HRall clinical team members.
  1. Superviseonboarding education and orientation for all clinical team members.
  1. Supervisestaffingofweekly scheduleofnursing staff for all physicians/providers forall office locations.
  1. Ensure thatphysiciansschedules are provided withexperiencedclinical team members torun and manageclinic.
  1. Supervise dailyeven hourlystaffingforboth AM and PMclinic adjusting for call-ins delays and/orearly departures of clinicalteam members.
  1. Monitor and approve all clinicalteam memberstime andattendance andconductcounseling anddisciplinary action forteam membersincurringtime and attendance issues.
  1. Ensure overtime is kept to a minimum.
  1. Addressbehavior and performance concerns with clinical team membersescalatingcomplex issues of concerntoHR up to and including termination.
  1. Meet one-on-onewith clinical team members on a regular basisto build relationships and trustthat lead to staff retention.
  1. Maintain open-door policy to promote open lines of communication and accessibility.

Clinical Protocols/Quality of Care/Best Practice Standards

  1. Coordinate implementation of new and/or changes to existing clinical protocols withappropriate physician(s) medical director(s)clinical team membersand otherappropriate personnel anddisseminatetocommunicatenew protocols or changes to allinvolved partiesprior to implementation date.
  1. Interact with physicians to resolve problems& improveclinical efficiencies.
  1. Make recommendations to the CEO and Boardregardingproposed quality initiatives best practice standards and potential areas of increased efficiencies oridentifiedwastes risk management concerns or areas of improvement.
  1. LeadinternalUCASafety Team to ensure all clinical areas are compliant with OSHA standards.
  1. Provide required onboarding and annualtrainingOSHA for all UCA team members.
  1. Maintain OSHArecords asrelated to training and equipment at all offices.
  1. Complete OSHA-required reporting.
  1. UpdateannualBloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan Hazard Communication Policy and Respiratory Protection Plan as required by OSHA.
  1. Provide annual education for all FDA REMS programs.
  1. Coordinate and schedule CPR recertificationprior toexpirationfor all UCA clinical team members and other team members interested in certification.
  1. Purchase and provide training to all clinical staff and practitioners on mobility devices used to provide access to medical care for patients with mobility disabilities required by the ADA.
  1. Monitor andensuresmedical wasteis in compliance withfederal state and county regulations.
  1. Report violations of waste and/or exposure swiftly toappropriate entities and complete required reporting of event(s).
  1. Provide requested reports for CEO President Medical Directors Finance etc. asrequested.
  1. Assimilates task force as needed to address systemic issues or issuesimpactingmultiple departments and/or disciplines.

Equipment/Supplies/Medications

  1. Ensure allsatellite officesare appropriatelyset up with accounts for ordering controlled substances.
  1. Supervise allDEA licensingrequirements for ordering and storing controlled substances.
  1. Conduct routine reviews of controlled substance inventorylogand securityat allUCAlocations.
  1. Review & compare prices of allequipmentsupplies andmedications to achievebestpossible price.
  1. Notifies providers andclinical team members of items on backorder orrecall andprovides alternative solutions.
  1. Review GPOupdates to ensure UCA isutilizingavailable contract pricing forpurchasing.
  1. Monitorinventory ofsupplies equipment and medicationsat cost-effective levels.
  1. Work with site coordinators to ensureeach UCA location hasappropriate quantitiesofsupplies equipment and medications.
  1. Coordinate and arrange annual OSHA-required Preventive Maintenance (PM) inspections for all equipment at all locations.
  1. Ensure clinical equipment is operative in proper working order and relevant team members are trained on use of equipment. Any defects or abnormalities are addressedimmediatelywith theappropriate equipmentrepresentatives.
  1. Source evaluate and recommend the need for replacement or upgrade of clinical equipment andlocatethe most cost-efficient purchase possible.

Departments

  1. Ensure that clinicalteam memberslicensure or credentialsare up-to-date andappropriate forthe position.
  1. Meetquarterly withsatellite offices toprovideupdatesabout the companydiscuss changes within the organizationlistenandaddress their areas of concern andkeep communication lines open.
  1. Meet quarterly or more oftenifneededwith Site Coordinators at allsatelliteofficesto promote communication and consistency within theClinicalTeamandNursing Department.
  1. Maintainand update Clinical Policies.
  1. Meet monthly withnursingdepartment.
  1. Meet monthly with Nursing Leadership Team tooutline vision purpose and goals and to address staffingworkflowand processes.
  1. Create revise and/or review forms used for procedures patient education consents etc. to ensurethey are updated relevant and meet best practice standards.
  1. Attend Monthly Medical Directors Meeting.
  1. Order andmaintainprescription pads for eachsatellite office and/or department.
  1. Other relevant duties as assignedorrequired.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must have anursing degree andbelicensedto practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
  1. Must haveseven5-7 years of nursing experience including experience as a charge nurse nurse supervisorornurse manager.
  1. Mustpossessanadvanceknowledge of clinic workflows and processes of a multi-physician multi-location physician practice.
  1. Must havean extensivecomprehensionof sound nursingpracticeand techniques.
  1. Must show knowledge ofOSHAandsafety guidelines applicable to healthcare settings.
  1. Mustdemonstratean abilityto create and manage budget for UCAs clinicalneedsmeetingwith suppliers and vendors to ensure the mostcost-effectivesolutions are obtained.
  1. Mustdemonstrateanability toleadinfluenceandhavedirect authority for multipledisciplines across various departments to ensure that strategic goals of UCA are communicated and executed efficiently.
  1. Must display the ability to communicateeffectivelybothverbally and writtenwith all UCATeam Members including physicians AdministrativeTeamandBoard of Directors andbe able topresent difficult or sensitive topics in an effective and efficient manner.
  1. Must display superior interpersonal skills and be abletomaintaincomposure in high stress situations.
  1. Must have anadvancedunderstanding of Microsoft Office products including Outlook Word Excel PowerPointand other relevant computer programs.
  1. Must display the ability to generateand encouragecreative ideas and innovative thinking toproduceimaginative solutions to issues or problems.
  1. Must have superioranalytical and problem-solving skills.
  1. Mustdemonstratethe ability toprioritize tasks anddelegateresponsibilities appropriately.
  1. Mustmaintainconfidentiality including strict adherence to HIPAA and UCA Guidelines.

Preferred/ Not requiredQualifications

  1. Mastersin Science Nursing(MSN) degree.
  1. Prior urology practice experience.
  1. Prior oncology experience in hospital or clinicalsetting.
  1. Prior experience leading multiple clinical disciplines to success.
