Job Summary
The Berg Group is looking for an Accountant to join our team in Chaska MN! The Berg Group a specialty contractor based in the upper Midwest for over 50 years offers integrated solutions in pre-construction services interior/exterior framing and in Minnesota with additional offices in Naples Sacramento and Carlsbad the company has been led by dedicated professionals. If you want to learn more please visit our About page on our Berg website at Accountant will work closely with the Assistant Controller to assist with accurate financial reporting. The Accountant will also assist to accurately account for the billing and cost of assigned projects. This is a key role at the Berg Group providing great customer service to our Project Management team General Contractors and Suppliers.
Essential Functions
Primary Responsibilities/Duties
- Prepare month end journal entries.
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Deposit daily cash receipts and ensure accurate application to outstanding invoices
- Make customer inquiries on past due accounts (phone email and tracking)
- Approval of contracts/change orders/budgets
- Work with project managers to reclass miscoded job expenses
- Perform credit references for potential new clients
- Support Accounts Payable with invoice entry and purchase order matching
- Issue timely and accurate weekly and monthly reports
- Provide quality customer service to our internal and external clients
- Look for and establish opportunities to streamline and optimize processes
- Other special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong written verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of Cost Accounting
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong organizational and time management orientation
- Possesses the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to work independently within a team environment
- Acts with a sense of urgency to complete tasks in a timely manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates and/or bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business or relevant work experience.
- 1 3 years of related experience in accounting.
- Experience in construction accounting (general contractor or specialty sub-contractor) a plus
- Detail-oriented deadline/goal-driven.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment.
- Sales tax experience a plus
- Plexxis software experience a plus
Sedentary Work
- Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.
- Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
- Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.
Compensation Information
- Annualized Salary Range:$62000-$70000
- 401(k) with match medical dental vision & PTO
