What youll be doing
The role of Senior manger reports directly to the Director Regulatory Reporting & Market Risk Analytics (RR & MRA). The Regulatory Reporting & Risk Analytics team is a key function in CMRM to meet our internal and external regulatory reporting requirements understanding our risk positions and drivers of capital as well as providing timely intelligence to senior management as pertains to markets and potential exposures. The Senior manager is ultimately responsible for analyzing the risk metrics across trading market risk and communicating them to all stakeholders through reports and presentations. This includes ensuring the final run results are an accurate reflection of the risks taken. There are also reports that tie in measures of credit liquidity and non-trading market risk and an understanding of these exposures is important to have. The Senior manager is responsible for taking the lead in portfolio analysis and have a vision to anticipate changes in best practices regulation and technology and adapt to them. He/she acts as a point of contact for the RR & MRA Director and Risk Managers to ensure a holistic understanding of their needs and providing information analysis factual data recommendations and proposals into various market risk related initiatives.

How youll succeed
Facilitate discussions of risk measures- drivers between all members of CMRM for the purpose of obtaining signoff on the measure and changes. Accountabilities will include Facilitate a conduit between the trading floor analysts and other roles within CMRM and Finance teams. Ensure coordination and integration of issues and opportunities. Ensure an effective intake process to prioritize needs and manage requests. Ensure agreed to deadlines are met. Create monitor and report on service delivery and associated SLAs. Identify standardization opportunities.
Ensure ongoing analytical requirements are met- in an effective and timely manner. This includes providing comprehensive reporting and analytical support for all key market risk measures such as daily VaR Stressed VaR position non VaR sensitivities Stress P&L P&L decomposition and regulatory capital at the bank-wide level including incremental contributions from businesses and risk factors.
Provide requirements- to assist the Technology CMRM Market Risk Positional Data (MRPD) teams in developing and implementing reports that meet client needs while ensuring efficient and robust underlying reporting infrastructure meets CMRM data governance standards for quality and timelines.
Provide Analysis- Deliver daily weekly monthly and quarterly or ad hoc reports and analysis that presents comprehensive and insightful views on market risk measures trends or business or technical challenges on a timely basis. Provide factual and conceptual analysis and interpretation of specialized business/technical information/data considering insights to best practices market data or business trends. Apply where appropriate complex analytical theories and methods in assisting the design/development of new products or models or in measuring risks more effectively. Perform or develop and implement complicated calculations and/or forecasts for use in developing responses and recommendations.
Assist in solving measurement/reporting issues- or in the development/enhancement of new market risk methodologies/models. This requires a strong ability to conduct broad based self directed research of key market risk measurements issues; market data and trends using creative and best practice approaches to resolve issues or to provide insight on emerging issues or observations of the business portfolio at the desks line of business and consolidated CIBC market risk perspective. Accountabilities can include: Research and analysis for new trading room or market risk strategic financial and/or operational planning initiatives. Identify and acquire relevant fact-based information and analytics to support key business decision requirements.
Who you are
Strong practical and theoretical knowledge in market risk measurement modelsand its supporting infrastructure including principles practices processes procedures trading products and services.
Function within a matrix management structure with business and subject matter specialists business leaders possessing skills knowledge and orientations different from their own.
Experience and knowledge in the areas of data warehousing relational databases and electronic information flow. Good programming experience/skills including desktop computing applications such as Microsoft Office SQL and coding/scripting languages.
