Job Purpose Statement/s:
The building level School Psychologist works under the direction of the Building Principal and the Director of job of School Psychologist is designed to provide for counseling psychological and assessment services at the building level providing information for program development and student placement; developing behavior plans; and providing information on child development and/or issues on specific students to instructional personnel.
Job Qualifications & Licensure:
- Masters Degree or higher degree(required)with a major in one or more of the following areas: Counseling Community Health and or Psychology.
- Valid Oregon Teaching License and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon.
- Must hold a current recognized first aid card or be willing to obtain same if directed by the district under ORS 342.664 (2).
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds
- Ability to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English Spanish or other languages related to the job
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students staff or district patrons
- Ability to work harmoniously with others
Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities
- Maintain a schedule for testing and consultation in each school assigned
- Bring an expertise and resource to RTI model around process and developing problem-solving practices that are most effective.
- Participate in evaluation planning and evaluate students (including private home school charter etc.) on a referral basis as requested by designated staff or Administrator
- Interpret test results in a written report that meets professional standards and is appropriate for school personnel and parents
- Attend team meetings and staffing as requested to explain test results and to assist in planning programs for students with disabilities
- Evaluate students who are being considered for early entry and interpret the results in a written report
- Assist in the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Intervention Plans
- Consult regarding district/state policies and procedures
- Attend Student Study Team/Referral Management Team meetings District meetings and alternative placement meetings
Workplace Expectations:
- Work effectively with and respond to people from diverse cultures or backgrounds.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior speech and dress in a neat clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- Have regular and punctual attendance.
- Confer regularly with other licensed staff and immediate supervisor.
- Follow all District policies work procedures and reasonable requests by proper authority.
- Maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to a student family colleague or District patron.
Any offer of employment made by North Wasco County School District is contingent upon satisfactory results of:
- Drug screening tests for any illegal drug or substance classified in Schedules I through V under theFederalControlled Substances Act 21 U.S.C. 811 to 812.This includes but is not limited tomarijuana mind-altering substances or narcotic drugs such as hallucinogens amphetamines barbiturates or any other illegal drug or controlled substance except thosefederallyrecognized as legally prescribed by a physician and used as directed.
