Description of Work
Reporting to the Maintenance/Construction Supervisor II at a multi-custody female correctional facility this position is responsible for technical guidance and supervision to grounds crew. This positions responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:1. Providing construction modification and general upkeep of grounds areas.
2. Completing work assignments involving the standard application of horticultural practices.
3. Conferring with superiors concerning proposed work assignments and suggesting practical ways to schedule work procedures.
4. Supervising assigned crews in mowing lawns parking lots formal gardens and in general grounds maintenance activities.
5. Supervising equipment operators and grounds personnel in excavating areas removing trees constructing sidewalks and wrecking old buildings.
6. Supervising the repair of surfaced roads and the removal of trash leaves and snow.
7. Preparing requisitions for supplies materials and equipment.
8. Conferring with nurserymen concerning plant adaptability accepted usage and sources of supply.
9. Coordinating grounds upkeep work with building maintenance personnel so that equipment labs and materials can be more efficiently utilized.
10. Performing other related work as required and/or necessary.
(Salary Range: $32639 - $57117)

Management Preferences
Documented working experience in the fields of grounds upkeep landscaping or horticulture.

This is afull-time position(40 hours per week) withState Benefitswith established working hours and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.

The salary grade for this position is NC05. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.
About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational vocational and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND three years of progressive experience in grounds upkeep; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
