The HR Advisor plays a key role in supporting SECLs people strategy by delivering high-quality generalist HR services across the organisation. This role ensures compliance with employment legislation fosters an inclusive and positive workplace culture and provides expert advice on all aspects of the employee lifecycle. The HR Advisor will also manage and optimise SECLs HRIS platform Employment Hero to streamline HR processes and enhance employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
You will work closely with the Head of People & Partnerships to promote HR initiatives lead projects manage day-to-day HR activities and enhance Employment Hero functionality to improve efficiency and employee experience.
Generalist HR Support
- Provide advice and guidance on HR policies procedures and employment legislation.
- Support managers with performance management employee relations and conflict resolution.
- Assist with workforce planning and organisational development initiatives.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate end-to-end recruitment processes including job design advertising interviewing and selection.
- Manage onboarding and induction programs to ensure a positive employee experience.
Learning & Development
- Support the implementation of training and development programs aligned with SECLs strategic goals.
- Maintain training records and assist with compliance requirements.
HR Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act Modern Awards and SECL policies.
- Prepare HR metrics and reports for leadership including turnover engagement and diversity data for monthly reporting and board reports as required.
Culture & Engagement
- Champion SECLs values and contribute to initiatives that promote diversity equity and inclusion.
- Support employee engagement programs and wellbeing initiatives.
Employment Hero Administration
- Act as the primary administrator for Employment Hero ensuring accurate employee data management.
- Maintain and update HR policies and documents within the platform.
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes through Employment Hero.
- Generate HR reports and analytics from Employment Hero for workforce planning and compliance.
- Support payroll processing and leave management using Employment Hero.
- Train managers and employees on effective use of Employment Hero features.
- Monitor system updates and liaise with Employment Hero support for troubleshooting and enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance Employment Hero functionality and implement improvements in collaboration with the Head of People & Partnerships.
Skills required to undertake the role

- HR Expertise: Strong understanding of Australian employment law Fair Work Act and HR best practices.
- HRIS Management: Proficient in Employment Hero or similar HR platforms with ability to optimise functionality.
- Recruitment & Onboarding: Skilled in end-to-end recruitment processes and creating positive onboarding experiences.
- Employee Relations: Ability to manage performance issues resolve conflicts and provide sound HR advice.
- Data & Reporting: Strong analytical skills for generating HR metrics and compliance reports.
- Project Management: Capable of delivering HR initiatives and projects within timelines and budgets.
- Communication & Influence: Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and influence stakeholders.
- Cultural Competence: Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion with sensitivity to multicultural communities.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Adaptability: Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced evolving environment.
