Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

The Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) provides strategic leadership and high-quality HR management to
support the staff and stakeholders of the school district. As a fundamental value of the district the CHRO
ensures that all HR practices embrace cultural responsiveness fostering an equitable and supportive work
environment. This role is crucial in promoting educational excellence through effective talent management and
employee engagement strategies that respect and honor diverse cultural backgrounds.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification/ Requirements:
1. Bachelors degree in Human Resources Educational Leadership or a related field; a masters
degree is preferred.
2. Three (3) years HR leadership experience in an education organization preferred.
3. Demonstrated experience in integrating cultural responsiveness and equity in HR practices.

Additional Skills:
1. Proficiency in talent acquisition growth and management.
2. Proficiency in change and crisis management with a focus on cultural competence.
3. Understanding of the unique challenges in public education particularly related to cultural
equity and inclusion.
4. Adaptability to modify HR strategies based on organizational and cultural dynamics.
5. Conflict resolution skills with a respectful approach to diverse perspectives.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that prioritize cultural responsiveness and
inclusivity aligning with the districts mission and strategic objectives.
2. Oversee the recruitment selection and onboarding processes to attract and retain top talent from
diverse backgrounds including teachers administrators and support staff.
3. Provide guidance on staff recruitment performance management and professional development with a
focus on cultural competency to school principals and department heads.
4. Ensure compliance with employment laws regulations and collective bargaining agreements enhancing
cultural responsiveness within all HR practices.
5. Develop and manage employee benefits programs that accommodate the diverse needs of a culturally
varied workforce.
6. Collaborate with employee associations and legal advisors to address concerns related to cultural
sensitivity and promote inclusive workplace practices.
7. Lead initiatives to increase cultural awareness and competency across the district including training
programs for staff.
8. Manage employee relations including investigations disciplinary actions and conflict resolution
applying a culturally sensitive approach.
9. Serve as a strategic advisor to the Superintendent and senior leadership team on HR issues focusing on
advancing cultural responsiveness and inclusivity.
10. Prepare and present reports on HR metrics and achievements with an emphasis on cultural equity and
inclusion to the Board of Trustees and other stakeholders.

11. Perform any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
17. Leads the HR management team and oversees all HR personnel.
18. Ensures HR practices align with district goals and are infused with principles of equity and cultural
responsiveness.

The position requires occasional walking standing sitting bending stooping kneeling crouching crawling and
lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds such as books papers and presentation
materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls;
reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is
required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when
operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to
maintain emotional control under stress.
