A minimum of five (5) years employment of school food service including two years (2) of responsibility as a Food Service Unit Leader or its equivalent.
WORK DAYS: 260 days (12 months) - 260 Day Work Year Calendar
Monday - Friday 8 hours/day 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
SALARY: 5S - Supervisory $64491 - $84874 annual salary
Salary prorated based on start date and prior experience.

DESCRIPTION:
Under direct supervision of Food Services Director and the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent Business Services schedule coordinate and supervise district Food Service Purchasing and Warehouse personnel; assist the Food Services Director in the operation of the district food services program; review evaluate and supervise all personnel in the Food Service Purchasing and Warehouse departments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from high school or its equivalent
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of school food service including two years (2) of responsibility as a Food Service Unit Leader or its equivalent
Successful experience in interacting with and working with colleagues;
Knowledge of principles and technical practices of food service operations including but not limited to federal and state regulations and standards related to food service preparation sanitation safety procedures and operations within a large public school organization with multiple work site locations/kitchens.
Personal Qualities: Resourceful innovative helpful diligent persistent and a willingness to work with colleagues and students.
Additional: Valid California Drivers License
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise plan organize train counsel motivate and evaluate assigned Food Service Purchasing and Warehouse personnel.
Evaluate school site food service programs to ensure compliance with any and all federal state and local regulations; perform inspections between evaluations.
Assist in maintaining a variety of federal and state level reports and records.
Promote and market catering services for both students and adults; coordinate catering schedules with various departmental personnel regarding event details; and oversee the approval of billing related to the catering program.
Establish duties and work schedules for assigned site personnel.
Review and approve department personnel time sheets and requests.
Collaborate with the Child Nutrition Buyer in the utilization of federally donated food products.
Develop and maintain high standards of food preparation service sanitation and safety procedures; train personnel in the operation and maintenance of all food service equipment.
Support the coordination training and implementation of the Districts food waste and recovery program.
Assistin food service purchasing and warehouse personnel orientation including but not limited to providing department procedures handbooks safety meetings and Point of Sale (POS) system training.
Coordinate and collaborate with Food Service Site Leads to manage the online lunch ordering system for high school campuses.
Work cooperatively with principals and other school officials; coordinate with district personnel for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
Provide nutrition education materials to promote the Food Service Departments National School Lunch Programs and School Breakfast Program including classroom visits and presentations for the purpose of promoting and maintaining services and/or programs.
Participate in and assist in leading meetings workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information; implement assigned activities and/or projects (i.e. storage/security of food and supplies cleanup operations for kitchens USDA regulations etc.)
Assist the Food Service Director in promoting public interest in the understanding of the school food service program.
Assist the Food Service Director in interview processes for staff hiring and/or promoting.
Assist the Food Service Director with Farm to School initiatives local food procurement and the Wellness Program.
Recommend policies procedures and/or actions for the purpose of providing departmental direction for meeting district goals and assisting the department in functioning in a safe and efficient manner.
Organize and maintain comprehensive and precise records of students with special dietary requirements including food allergies and modified food textures across all school locations and accompanied by thorough staff training.
Assist with the development of daily menus recommend products for purchase and assist in coordinating student tasting panels.
Assist with developing food service changes to ensure compliance with all nutritional requirements of the program including menu changes for delivery of a healthier food services program.
Assist and provide support in various Food Service roles as needed including kitchen staff coverage and ensuring production levels and delivery schedules are met.
Perform other duties as reasonably required.

have consistent attendance because of the time urgent nature of duties and because the work product of the position is interdependent with that of other staff consistent attendance is required.
