Tectonic is currently seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting solar battery storage and grid modernization projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-level engineer to take ownership of exciting projects while developing technical and leadership skills in a collaborative fast-paced environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of this position include working collaboratively on solar and energy projects with engineers designers clients and third-party vendors to ensure high-quality deliverables. Responsibilities include: - Performing detailed electrical design including one-line diagrams grounding lighting and equipment layouts;
- Conducting power system studies (load flow short circuit relay coordination voltage drop) using ETAP or EasyPower;
- Preparing equipment specifications material requisitions and reviewing vendor drawings;
- Coordinating design efforts with civil structural and mechanical teams to ensure constructability and code compliance;
- Supporting field teams by reviewing site layouts performing site visits and providing technical guidance;
- Participating in 3D model reviews with clients vendors and subcontractors;
- Maintaining accurate project documentation schedules and design records.
QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering; EIT and/or PE License preferred;
- Minimum of 3-7 years of experience in electrical design and coordination preferably within the power manufacturing or renewable energy space;
- Working knowledge of NEC IEEE and IEC standards;
- Proficiency with AutoCAD (2020 or newer) Revit and electrical analysis tools (ETAP/EasyPower);
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Site or field experience is a plus;
- Requiresa valid clean drivers license as travel to job sites may be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is often required to assume a stationary position and regularly perform tasks that require the handling inspection and/or feeling of documents materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. Occasionally the employee will need to move around on the job-site sometimes while lifting and/or moving equipment up to 25 lbs and/or in hazardous weather conditions. The employee must be able to safely operate a motor-vehicle in which they may be required to remain stationary for a prolonged period of time. They must be able to receive and convey detailed or important information with others using the Corporate e-mail system telephone system and conferencing systems.
