Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Performance Analyst strengthens the trust usability and accountability of operational data used across GO Transit and UP Express. This role leads day-to-day governance for priority operational domains by partnering with Data Owners Stewards and IT teams to define data products standardize definitions establish data quality controls and run issue management through to resolution. The analyst also enables governed self-service reporting (Power BI) and automation (Power Platform) using structured problem solving to deliver measurable improvements in safety service reliability and decision-making.
What will I be doing
- Run day-to-day data governance for priority Operations datasets (scope ownership stewardship cadence).
- Define and maintain governed standards: business glossary KPI dictionary metadata lineage data product documentation.
- Design and monitor data quality controls (rules thresholds alerts) and publish data quality status.
- Lead data issue management end-to-end: intake triage RCA with technical teams remediation tracking validation.
- Build advanced BI dashboards/reports to track and improve operational performance.
- Deliver analysis to support strategic decisions for Operations & Safety leaders.
- Use Python/R for deeper analysis forecasting and predictive insights.
- Act as Operations-to-IT liaison on safety/operations-critical IT incidents supporting comms and resolution.
- Coordinate RCAs and produce incident summaries to drive prevention and continuous improvement.
- Apply Lean/A3 structured problem solving and enable automation using Power Platform (Apps/Automate).
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science Information Systems Data Analytics or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in data governance data quality BI analytics engineering or related work.
- Experience partnering with Data Owners/Stewards to define standards and resolve data issues.
- Solid understanding of governance frameworks controls and best practices.
- Power Platform experience (Power Apps Power Automate) for workflow/app automation.
- Python and R proficiency for analysis and predictive work.
- SQL and data modeling familiarity.
- Deep understanding of Lean problem solving methods and RCA in operational environments.
- Strong stakeholder management communication and ability to prioritize in ambiguous high-impact work.
