The Environmental Services Supervisor
Supervises day-to-day operations of assigned area by prioritizing coordinating planning and scheduling staff to meet daily activities meetings and special event needs.
Provides supervision guidance and technical assistance as needed to employees.
Performs daily inspections and tracks frequencies/workflow of activities assigned to Environmental Services employees.
Coordinates special projects within assigned area after consulting with leadership.
During emergency situations/incidents directs the operation of Haz-Mat team within department/facility.
Works between Environmental Services and other department managers patients families and visitors. Responds promptly to requests for assistance.
Demonstrates through role-modeling and teaches the concept of SERVE U to employees and customers.
Regularly makes contact with department managers in assigned areas to review satisfaction of services provided.
Provides conflict resolution with internal and external customers.
Tracks and assures that the monthly Bed-tracking Scorecard objective is met. Makes recommendations to Manager on enhancement of process.
Interviews selects orients and trains new employees. Coaches employees to improve performance and documents action conjunction with manager issues disciplinary action. Compiles the 90 day and annual performance evaluation in preparation for consultation with manager. Enforces established hospital and department policies and procedures including quality assurance safety environment and infection control objectives.
Manages time-keeping entries each pay period in preparation for sign-off by Manager.
Maintains adequate stock to assure that all staff have products needed for patient care. Maintains inventory of equipment parts and service/instruction manuals.
Performs the tasks/duties of an Environmental Services employee such that cleanliness standards patient and customer expectations are met on a daily basis.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent education required.
Experience: 3-5 years in a lead or supervisory position required. 1-2 years of experience in an Environmental Services or Healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure certification and/or registration: none
Other Minimum Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written communications. Numerical ability to perform arithmetic operations for keeping work records preparing budgets requisitioning supplies and preparing reports. Ability to direct the work of others and confront employee performance or behavior issues. Demonstrated leadership team building and employee development skills. Verifiable HAWOPER/Hazmat Awareness level training required and maintained annually.
