This Position will cover a Teacher on leave.
The Special Education Elementary School Teacher will report to the Principal and will complete but is not limited to the following duties:
- Assuming responsibility for the instruction of assigned students in the designated subject matter area by New Jersey Core Curriculum content standards and the school
- Consulting with various levels of administrative staff learning consultants students parents and others as necessary
- Remaining current with new developments in subject matter content teaching methods instructional strategies educational technology and educational research in assigned areas
- Working with the educational team where the teacher will establish instructional objectives for each student that are consistent with the schools mission philosophy and vision.
- Presenting and explaining learning materials and educating students on new subjects.
- Communicating their subject matter by using lectures and printed visual audio and/or video materials.
- Educating the class and ensuring success maintaining a positive attitude being energetic about the subjects they teach and sharing a passion for learning themselves.
- Developing lesson plans and materials adapting curriculum and planning a program of study to meet the individuals needs interests diversified skill sets and abilities of each student
- Establishing standards of student behavior and maintaining order in the classroom in a fair and just manner to achieve a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Assessing on an ongoing basis the accomplishments of students maintaining student records attending IEP as well as all other meetings and providing progress reports as required
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in a required field
- Valid NJ Special Education Teaching Certification and other related areas as required
- Experience working with kids with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with effective teaching methods and developmentally appropriate classroom activities
