Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Director of Pathology to lead our pathology department at Cheshire Medical Center. The Medical Director is responsible for the overall direction operation and management of the Section in accordance with the mission and goals of the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic Cheshire Medical Center and with the objectives established by the Chief Medical Officer of Cheshire Medical Center. The Medical Director is the role model of appropriate expert compassionate and cost-effective clinical care and maintains exemplary interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the Department and throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical and administrative leadership for the pathology department.
- Oversee and ensure quality assurance compliance and accreditation standards (CAP CLIA etc.).
- Interpret pathology and laboratory test results with accuracy and timeliness.
- Collaborate with hospital leadership clinicians and laboratory staff to optimize diagnostic services.
- Develop and implement policies to improve efficiency accuracy and patient outcomes.
- Participate in strategic planning for laboratory growth and development.
- Train and mentor pathology staff.
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree with board certification in both Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology by the ABMS or AOA
- Minimum 4 years of experience in pathology with leadership experience preferred.
- Ability to obtain/maintain a New Hampshire medical license.
- Strong background in laboratory management quality assurance and compliance.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Fellowship training in any pathology sub-specialty.
- Experience with laboratory informatics and modern diagnostic techniques.
- Previous experience as a Medical Director or in a similar leadership role.
