Title: Adult Education Instructional Facilitator
Calendar: A1 178 days
ESP Salary Schedule: Range 110 Step 1
Hours: 5.9/Day 29.5/Week
Location: Adult Education - James Madison Campus
This position will be working with 16-24 year old students helping them prepare for workforce including industry and YouthBuild Placements.
This position is funded by an Adult Education Supplemental grant. This position is dependent on ongoing funds from the grant. If ongoing funds are not received this position will end.
General Purpose
Through collaboration with the Principal and the Lead Teacher the Adult Education Instructional Facilitator will be instructing students enrolled in the Ogden School Districts Adult Education Program. They will be responsible for providing instruction monitoring and tutoring to adult education students who are enrolled in an IET MLL High School Diploma or GED class.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction to students in a safe and productive learning environment
- Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals objectives and outcomes.
- Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate materials.
- Implements an instructional program which provides appropriate experiences as per district and building requirements.
- Continually assesses student achievement through use of formal and informal assessments maintaining appropriate assessment and initial or re-evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
- Maintains accurate and complete student records as required by the law District policy and administrative regulation.
- Maintains instructional materials assessment tools and specialized equipment/programs purchased for the program.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and technology to enhance learning.
- Utilizes instructional materials and other educational resources in a competent and effective manner
- Participates in professional development and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
- Communicates with students on expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations as appropriate.
- Manages allotted time to maximize student achievement.
- Assist counselors administration and other staff as necessary to resolve issues affecting student success.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established District curriculum goals establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons units and projects to support the district program and objectives.
- Strives by instruction and action to employ the Districts philosophy of education instructional goals and objectives and performance expectations.
- Develops a code of conduct for the classroom which is consistent with established administrative policies and develops rules of classroom expectations which are enforced in a fair and just manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements
- The job occasionally requires light physical exertion including walking standing and other forms of light physical activity.
- The job occasionally requires a moderate level of physical exertion such as handling light/medium weight materials such as binders instructional materials laptops or Chromebooks.
- The job requires the ability to move around the classroom to monitor students
- Work involves contact with students teachers administration community and/or other staff members.
- Requires professionalism and excellent communication and organizational skills including the ability to provide feedback and motivation to students.
- Must be proficient in classroom management.
Temperament
- Must be courteous and be able to deal effectively with other staff and the community
- Ability to remain calm and diplomatic in stressful situations
- Must be cooperative congenial and service-oriented
- Must be persuasive and creative
- Ability to weigh options think rationally and evaluate accurately
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 42 college credits is required
- A minimum of 2 years experience instructing and/or tutoring individuals is required
- Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft/Google applications as well as other computer software applications
- Experience working and/or tutoring at-risk individuals is preferred
