Job Summary
JOB SUMMARY:
Oversees the development of Universal Kids Resorts (UKR) Public Relations strategy in partnership across Marketing & Sales for various UKR communications initiatives. Leads the strategy and tactics to help tell the larger destination story including the on-site hotel through the development of PR plans and messaging targeted to key media in assigned market segments. Partners heavily with UKRs External Affairs department to support external/corporate communications issues and inquiries while evaluating requests and escalating to Universal Destinations & Experiences (UDX) Corporate Communications for alignment and approvals.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the development of the overall strategy for Universal Kids Resorts key Public Relations (PR) initiatives in partnership with department management and other key internal partners. These plans will focus on securing media coverage for UKRs key market segments various seasonal events on-site hotel incentives and initiatives and new products.
- Manages UKRs overarching destination messaging and media outreach strategy highlighting the scope and new opportunity of our destination and ensuring significant coverage results.
- Defines and shapes creative concepts and collaborates on the production of photo and video shoots digital content and other written content as needed to support UKRs destination messaging.
- Manages all planning logistics and implementation of UKRs PR efforts and destination messaging plans. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results. Collaborates and effectively communicates throughout Marketing & Sales and UKR leadership who support UKRs PR efforts and destination messaging.
- Supports UKRs external communications partnering with External Affairs to support the intake for communications opportunities issues and inquiries evaluating requests and escalating to UDX Corporate Communications for alignment and approvals. Assists with crisis planning and response efforts for UKR ensuring timely and coordinated alignment with UDX Corporate Communications and other key stakeholders.
- Understand and actively participate in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skills and/or abilities (KSAs) required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proven creative strategy/content skills.
- Basic knowledge of video and photo production and logistics.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks at any given time.
- Experience with pitching and securing media coverage

EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree in Public Relations Communications Journalism or a related field is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of related media experience is required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
