Position Summary
The Benefits & HR Coordinator supports day-to-day HR operations with a primary focus on employee benefits onboarding/offboarding and basic HR and payroll administrative tasks. This role serves as a first point of contact for employee questions works closely with our benefits brokers and vendors and assists with maintaining accurate HR and payroll records. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented responsive organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Serve as the first point of contact for general benefits questions (medical dental vision 401k leave programs etc.).
- Partner with benefits brokers to resolve employee inquiries eligibility issues or escalations.
- Process benefit enrollments changes and terminations in HRIS/benefit platforms.
- Assist with annual open enrollment including communications data audits and vendor coordination.
- Maintain accurate and compliant benefits records.
HR Coordination
- Support employee onboarding including preparing offer packets collecting documentation initiating background checks and setting up new hires in HRIS
- Coordinate employee offboarding tasks such as system terminations final pay inputs COBRA notices (working with vendor) and exit documentation.
- Respond to routine employee questions regarding policies PTO pay cycles and HR processes.
- Maintain personnel files and ensure data accuracy across systems.
Payroll & Compliance Support
- Assist payroll team with new hire setups terminations benefit deductions and basic payroll changes.
- Monitor and update payroll tax account information across state and local jurisdictions as needed.
- Maintain accounts and respond to notices in unemployment portals and state tax websites.
- Support the completion of employment verifications and compliance documentation.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in HR benefits administration or payroll support (preferred).
- Familiarity with HRIS and benefits platforms; ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong attention to detail organization and follow-through.
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Experience with multi-state payroll tax or unemployment portals is a plus.
